    Doesn't play much defense either.

I want to add him yes, but only as half of a trade with Monta Ellis....

Maggette is such an efficient scorer and would thrive here......and yes, he misses about 15 or so games a year....that is not all that bad.

He's owed $30 mil over the next 3 years. That's nasty

I don't see it that way, we get an efficient scorer, a very tradeable contract, and another player in Ellis that is an up and coming star.

We give GS a chance to start over.....

    It is a win win....IMO.

A "very tradeable contract"? I thought we're keeping Maggette

    Ball movement, DD! :)

Even Jamal Crawford was calling out Maggette for being a blackhole on offense.

I'd want the Rockets to stay away from Ellis. The guy seems like a bonafide headcase.

He moves very well off the ball and every team needs a closer....

Ellis is young, but so so skilled......put him on a team of hard working guys like this one...and boom...stratosphere.

Some players just have "It"....he has it...

Oh, and J. Crawford should never ever call anyone a ball hog other than the man in his mirror.

worzel gummidge said "ball movement" & that per say has little to do with "moving without the ball". The only ball movement after it gets to CM is an arc to the rim. ME & CM are great run & shoot players. The Rox are a run & pass for a better shot team.

    Here's the trade:

McGrady, Battier, Cook, Landry, Brooks, Dorsey, Taylor

    for

Chris Paul, Emeka Okafor, David West, James Posey, Ike Diogu

Give New Orleans $3 million. New Orleans buys out McGrady. We re-sign McGrady for a playoff run.

    Chris Paul
    Tracy McGrady
    Trevor Ariza
    Emeka Okafor
    Luis Scola

    Kyle Lowry
    Chase Budinger
    James Posey
    Chuck Hayes
    Ike Diogu

    David Andersen

Bring in Will Conroy and another big for insurance

New Orleans would be doing this to dump salary and start over obviously. Peja not included because his contract ends next season. David West and James Posey inclued because they have 2 years left after this year. New Orleans can send out Battier to a playoff team for another expiring and a draft pick if they want to. Or they can keep Battier and use Battier and Peja in similar fashion to McGrady next season as expiring contracts if they see they are going to be competitive quickly and want to make a move to add a big time player. This trade opens up all sorts of doors for New Orleans, probably makes them more competitive, and allows them to function at a much lower cost in case it does take a couple years for them to rebuild. New Orleans is going nowhere and they know it. They aren't going to become a contender with this group. They have to bust it up. If they cannot figure out how to bust up the group and rebuild and still retain Chris Paul, which I don't think is possible (what team is going to want to take on Okafor, Peja, West, and/or Posey without getting Paul?), then this is probably as good as they can do, getting McGrady's expiring along with young, cheap talent in Landry and Brooks and possibly more draft picks by shuffling Battier.

Yeah, why would we want a couple of inefficient turnover-prone chuckers like Ellis and Maggette when we've got efficient low-turnover non-chuckers like Brooks and Ariza?

    I've got a better idea:

A bunch of Houston Rockets jerseys

    for

A bunch of New Orleans Hornets jerseys

    Houston Trade: Macgrady, Landry
Toronto Trade: Chris Bosh, Marcus Bank + Filler(need 300K in salary to satisfy 125% rule)

    Why Toronto would trade:

They can't let Bosh walk for nothing.
They get a very good young PF for rebuilding/competing.
Get rid off the dead weight in Marcus Bank 2 yr contract.
    Saves from $22mil expiring.

Why Houston would trade(assuming they are sure Bosh would pick his player option or sign extension with Houston):

They can't let TMac to walk for nothing.
    Greatly upgrade PF position.
Would allow Houston to compete for championship on 2010-2011, window is closing very fast.

    McGrady + Landry + Dorsey+ rights to Eliyahu + $3M → Lopez + Simmons + Battie + Alston

If DM the GM pulled this trade off today and the Nets sat McGrady for the rest of the season... Nets save $12.82M. That's the pro-rated insurance money and difference of salaries accounted for.

Corey Maggette is a beast. We could get him for next to nothing. In fact he's got negative trade value at the moment.

If you had to choose between:

    Martin and Nocioni

    and

    Ellis and Maggette

    the choice is obvious? no?
