McGrady + Head for Marion + Jones + 2009 2nd rd pick via Pacers + 2009 2nd rd pick via Cavs Both teams stay under LT. James Jones has a 5 year deal but is non-guaranteed in 2010 & 2011. Jones was third in the league in 3pt shooting last season with the Blazers. Both Marion and Jones play both ends of the court. IMO this would allow the Rockets to become more efficient on the scoring end, lockdown on the defensive end, and just being much more versatile. Alston, Brooks, Barry Wafer/Artest, Jones Marion, Battier Scola, Landry, Dorsey Yao, Hayes, Deke Alston, Brooks, Barry Artest, Wafer Battier, Jones Marion, Landry, Dorsey Yao, Scola, Hayes, Deke
Marion can improve defense and Jones can hit outside shots but Marion is a poor fit despite that, because he needs others to create shots for him eg Nash. He can't dribble or handle the ball much more than Battier. Injuries aren't the only reason why his scoring has gone down since he left the Suns. Mcgrady does hold the ball but he remains our best passer.
I would trade any Rocket player for the right deal. Ron and Luther should be traded, but for the right deal, Tmac and Shane could go too... This team is not working...blow it up some, we need a Clyde Drexler type trade to jump start the season. DD
Are you saying that because you are tired of the trade thread, or tired of this team and want a trade? To me, without a trade, this team is toast. DD
I dont think Artest is the answer for a trade though. He is more efficeint then 3 of the starters easily, EASILY. Whats more if this team, without Artest, still does horribly then what? You are stuck with the core since only Head and Artest comes off the books. But, just but, if this team still does horribly with Artest in the lineup you still have 11 mil leaving the books to play with in the post season. Not a whole bunch better but at least a better back up plan.
Magette just stays hurt so much DD....Vince is kind of a healthy type of player and he still attacks the rim....Plus DD you have to think what kind of lift that may give our very own Tracy...hopefully for the Rockets Tracy and Vince will see who can dunk on the other teams big man first...I see it being a positive for the Rockets
we will not have 11 million as you think....we will be over the cap still so we would only have our mid level to play with...that is why you may want to trade Artest now so that you can get something for him and not just let him walk for nothing
Exactly.....if you think about the Artest trade as not working out...then it is TWO first round picks and an athletic wing was one of them....for a guy that is not part of the team's future. If the Rockets are not going to resign him, they HAVE to trade him for something or the trade turned out to be a major dud. DD
aah. Well can you elaborate on how so? (just trying to see what I missed) I understand everyones raises. Head and Artest off the books (also Reed and some other guys who arent even on the active roster. We are just below the cap right now. I dont see 11mil plus in raises?
Its not thinking about it as not working because if you traded for him in the first spot you think it will work. Its if. That damn if.
Tired of both, and very eager to see an improved team. My prayer is that after two weeks from now we'll be improved at the PG position.
The salary cap is around 56 million this year i think..next year with all that coming off the books we still have 65 million owed in salary....We are under the LT right now, I think you are getting them confused that is all...
