But Ron's game never fit, Magette's does, he moves without the ball, and takes on contact to get to the FT line..... He fits perfectly, Ron does not. Big difference....and $10 million a year for 20ppg while shooting .450+% is a win win baby. DD
According to most fans from the Lakers and elsewhere... Magette is one of the most selfish players in the league. I rather have Artest than him. But if it was for Ellis or Jackson, i don't mind.
I don't care what other teams fans say, most of them are ignorant of how to build a team, or chemistry. Heck, most people have no experience with that, but it is obvious to some that do... So, I am sure they don't like Magette, but me, I can see how he is a finisher, and this team DESPERATLY needs a finisher. Put him in with Yao and Tmac....and that is GOLD.....pure GOLD. DD
Artest is gone as far as I am concerned, he does not fit in with Tmac, and I don't think Tmac's contract is tradeable, and when healthy Tmac is a better fit. Artest, trade him before he walks for nothing this offseason. DD
I'm not going to talk for DD, but I think like most, Tracy is more decision/playmaker than scorer now. So if that's the case, its better to have play finisher and scorers on the team. So u take out a standstill shane, a poor shooter in rafer, and a wannabe playmaker in artest. Adding Maggette is basically a suped up wafer on offense. Turiaf would give the rox a shot blocker/rebounder and if someone is torching scolandry, u get a bigger more athletic guy who can shoot some.
Actually, I have not changed anything..... I have always said...trade Artest he doesn't fit...been saying he doesn't fit since before we got him. As far as Tmac goes...nothing has changed there either, but his contract makes him untradeable THIS year so might as well hold on to him and trade him next year. DD
After watching Maggette limp around on the court I can safely say I wouldnt want him on this team. Yao + Artest works Yao + Tmac works Yao + Artest + Tmac im not so sure
That is what I have been saying, and since Artest is the easiest contract to trade you do it. And, Artest's good game tonight is more of an aberation than the norm. I would take Magette's .460 shooting over Ron's .390 shooting. Maggette is a career .450+ shooter, Ron is a career .420 shooter..... DD
Now that bynum is down for a while at least, the lakers are still good enough to get back to the finals but Im not so sure they're good enough to win it all. LAL get: Tracy McGrady Carl Landry Luther Head Hou Gets Lamar Odom Trevor Ariza Vladimir Radmonovic Why both teams do this? For Houston they get to dump McGrady's contract a year early as Odom comes off 1 year early thus giving us room to re-sign ron and set him and Yao up as the core going into 2010 offseason. We also get a bulldog of a defender in Ariza making battier expendable to package with someone to get a pg(portland has 3 good ones, Chicago has hinrich). Radmonovich is overpaid but he can stretch the floor for Yao which is what Brent was signed to do but isn't right now. Adelman may use Radman like he did Peja back in the day. Why LAL do the trade? Tmac is never going to be the same old Tmac but he still demands the attention of a defense when he can make it onto the court. He seems to have lost interest in Houston and going into the spotlight in LA may revive his career. Can he play second fiddle to Kobe? Probably not but Carl Landry steps in at starting PF alongside Gasol and probably comes close to a double-double everynight once he avg 30 min a night Once the LAL/Hou deal is complete I'd like to see a 3 team deal with Houston/detroit/chicago Rip isn't happy in detroit coming off the bench. Ideally next year when Iverson walks he steps back in as the starter but he feels betrayed after so many years and so many playoff berths.Battier is from Detroit and has said he would like to play there someday. Hinrich is just what we need a good defender who can nail the open jumper, more importantly the 3 ball. Our Lineup after both my dreams Hinrich/Brooks Wafer/Barry Artest/Ariza/Radman Scola/hayes Yao/Deke/dorsey All of a sudden we've done what cleveland did with delonte, gibson, wally, and pavlovic, they've given their main weapon a plethora of shooters to kick the ball out to when he's doubled. Imagine Yao or artest getting doubled in the post with Hinrich,Wafer, and Radman waiting on the perimeter as opposed to Tmac,Alston,Battier. I know the thought of this is going to give me a wet dream tonight as I go to bed now.
chicago gets rip to step in at the 2 guard alongside d rose and Ben Gordon can go back to his 6th man role until he leaves in the offseason. Detroit gets Battier and Alston.Alston at the point and stuckey slides over to the 2 where he is better suited.
This is why management do not listen to fans!! Our biggest problemthis year has been injuries, not talent or lack there of, but injuries. You are talking about trading Ron Artest and Shane Battier for Maggette (who is has played in three less games than T-mac) and an over priced backup big in Turaf. I'm just glad you are not in management. The trade we need to pursue is Battier for Outlaw and Frye or Battier and Luther Head for Drew Gooden and Sefolosha, I'll even through in a furture pick. We need a player opposite McGrady that can penetrate and play defense, we also need another big to spell Yao. Chuck Hayes is just too short.
How do you know Maggette fits? Do you know if he plays defense? Can he fit into the team defense that the Rockets play? You've seen Ron, you've never seen Maggette. At least Ron works hard and is easy to get rid of. It wasn't easy coming in with zero garbage contracts, and now you want us to take on the biggest one of all?
I have seen a lot of Maggette, I have been watching their games late all year.... Particularly when I heard he could be available. Maggette is no defensive stopper but he is not a sieve either, and he moves without the ball all game long.... He fits perfectly and 10 million a year for that kind of production is not a garbage contract it is VALUE..... 20ppg on .460 FG% people.........that is NOT bad...it is efficient....now I know the Rocket fans have not been used to seeing efficiency these last few years and may have forgotten what it looks like...but man..Maggette is a highly efficient scorer....way more than any other wing on the Rockets team. DD
On a Rockets team, if he could average 20 ppg, that would be value, but he's only been on the Clippers and GSW. You think he can maintain that sort of production with a lot less touches, opportunities and a much slower, organized half-court style? Plus, he can get to the paint, but there's little room for him to maneuver there because of Yao.
heres an idea that will for sure send us to four straight championships http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...0&teams=10~2~10~10~13~2~3~13~3~2~10&te=&cash= copy and paste it to the adress bar
