Elton has been a flop prior to his injury so it would have to happen once he's healthy and a few more games under his belt. If he continues to play badly, then they may have to consider the possibilities...
Trading T-Mac... Ugh is there an even dimmer prospect? One thing's for sure: we're going to get garbage contracts or had-beens in return, and no high draft picks or talented youth. Out best bet would be to take back some expiring deals: Marbury, Marion, Iverson, Rasheed etc. But those come at a price. To Chicago? Larry Hughes' stupid contract is a must take. They'd probably give up Gordon, since he'll be asking for a HUGE contract at the end of the season... Half season rental, anyone? I wouldn't want Tyrus Thomas. Nocioni could be a nice throw-in. Hinrich is obtainable. Lots to work with here. To Detroit? Rodney Stuckey is untouchable. They have their entire situation pretty much figured out, so there's little need for a trade. Would they give up 'Sheed? We don't need him. Iverson would be an okay fit, but why would the Pistons do it? This is an interesting scenario. To Toronto? You guys want a package of Anthony Parker, Kapono and maaayyybe Bargnani? Or Jermaine O'Neal? I wouldn't be very happy if something happens here. Calderon is like the most untouchable player you can think of. No way there. To the Magic? They could maybe give you Pietrus and to an extent Turk if they don't want to/can't afford to sign him this year. No happening really. Plus I don't see them ruining the great chemistry they have. To the Heat? Marion would be a prime target. But you can bet they'd ask for one of our bigs (Scola would be a good fit) and we'd suck and have no SGs or any offense. Salary-wise, it works, but that's about it. To the Knicks? I could easily see them giving up Marbury + David Lee. Again, works salary wise, but we're essentially sending T-Mac for nothing, since Lee is a half season rental. I'd like to get a bit of talent in return. Just exploring some possiblities. But 75% chance T-Mac's not going anywhere. It's been said again and again, but we still have the best chance of winning SOMETHING this season and the next with Tracy. Plus his contract expires conveniently in 2010. By the way, let's keep the trade proposals realistic and interesting. Cheers guys.
Plus Brand has a HUGE contract. I wouldn't want him nor Baron Davis. LOL if I were Otis the Magic GM I'd trade Rashard Lewis for McGrady. Saving 60 million dollars sounds like a pretty good deal.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...56~11~2763~532&teams=10~10~10~4~4~4&te=&cash= Tracy Lamar Rafer Luther Head for Hinrich Ben Gordon Larry Hughes (optional 1st rounder) Why CHI does it: -they won't be able to re-sign ben gordon this summer. -derrick rose replaced hinrich as their starting PG, but hinrich is too expensive as a back-up PG. -they desperately want to get rid of larry hughes, and may throw in a 1st rounder for our troubles. Why HOU does it: -everyone clamoring for rafer's exit will finally be happy with a legit starting pg in hinrich. contract is long and expensive, although decreasing by year, but our PG position will be set. and most importantly, no rafer. our starting point will be able to hit open 3s. -larry hughes- he may or may not have a role with the team. most importantly, his contract expires next year before 2010 summer, so his expiring contract next will be very valuable. -ben gordon- he most likely won't re-sign here either, but rather will just be a rental. most importantly, once his 6.4m contract comes off the books in the summer, we can use part/most/all of it re-sign artest or lock up wafer. this will destroy the locker room, though.
*Conspiracy theory* Since Charlotte has just traded for Diop, they could possibly shift their line-up down to put Diaw at the 3 and Okafor at the 4; to have the line up of Felton-Wallace-Diaw-Okafor-Diop. But with the emergence of DJ Augustin and the supposed interest of moving Felton, Mohammed, and Wallace during the season could make them switch jerseys this year. Now Doc Rocket said that the Rockets could possibly move Tracy McGrady to a northern team, it could seem fitting that there could be a deal centered around Tracy for G. Wallace, Felton, Nazr Mohammed. Line ups for both teams would be Houston: PG: Felton/Brooks/Alston SG: Wallace/Wafer/Barry SF: Battier/Artest PF: Scola/Landry/Hayes/Dorsey C: Yao/Mohammed/Deke Charlotte: PG: Augustin/Singletary/Head SG: McGrady/Bell/Brown SF: Diaw/Morrison PF: Okafor/Howard/May C: Diop/Ajinca Why it could work for Houston: They get a young starting point guard to go along with Brooks, Wallace would take over Tracy's scoring, and get a back-up C in Nazr Mohammed. Why it could work for Charlotte: They give the starting spot of Augustin, move down Diaw and Okafor to, what they seem to perceive, as their natural positions and they moved Okafor to the 4 last year for a short period, and get a veteran to teach the younger players. /End conspiracy theory.
It does make some sense, but basically Chicago is doing it solely to get rid of Hinrich. If I were them, I'd ask for Brooks and not Rafer. Or Scola, same thing. Rafer's contract is too long.
what the hell are you talking about? i wish people would read and research before they open there mouth( or should i say type on there keyboard)....Rafer only has 2 years left
>< Rafer's contract, along with Shane's, expires in 2011... If you were Paxson, would you want a contract that expires in 2011? Clearing cap space for 2010 is what this is all about.
Rockets: Hinrich (4yr) + Fernandez + Batum + LaFrentz (exp/80% insured) Blazers: McGrady (2yr) + Dorsey (filler) + Ruffin (exp/filler) Bulls: Alston (2yr) + Outlaw (2yr) + Head (exp) Filler contracts need to be included for Houston & Chicago to stay under LT.
Yao for Bynum and Odom. May very well put Lakers over the top for the next few years. Could work with Rockets. Bynum is young and will improve. Odom's contract expires soon if he doesn't work out. In fact, Odom, Artest, and Tmac could all be off the book by 2010.
Trade proposal: Chicago gets Tracy McGrady 6-8 SG / SF from Mount Zion Christian Academy (HS) 15.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 5.0 apg in 33.9 minutes Luther Head 6-3 PG / SG from Illinois 4.6 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 1.5 apg in 14.0 minutes Houston gets Kirk Hinrich 6-3 PG from Kansas 8.7 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 4.2 apg in 25.6 minutes Larry Hughes 6-5 SG from St. Louis 11.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.9 apg in 25.6 minutes Change in Team Outlook: +0.4 ppg, -0.6 rpg, and -0.4 apg Why do it? For us: - Addition by subtraction with T-Mac - Get a legit starting 1 - More perimeter scoring to surround Yao - Luther can hook up with his college honeys For them: - Veteran presence to pair with youngsters - A go-to player for the crunch - Offload Larry, a proven cancer - Make Rose undisputed starting 1
I would like to see Rip Hamilton on this team. That guy would be perfect in RA's offense. He's Ray Allen-esque and he's got championship experience. I know he's not happy in Detroit because Iverson took his spot. Plus, they're trying to clear cap room for 2010. How about TMac for Rip, Amir Johnson, and Kwame Brown works. And Kwame's deal expires this year, so you can just give his money to Artest. PG: Alston/Brooks SG: Hamilton/Wafer SF: Artest/Battier PF: Scola/Landry C: Yao/Mutumbo Bench: Barry, Hayes, Johnson
I like it but isnt Amir another starter?? Dont think they would go for that. On top of that your off loading 2mil plus onto them and they arent exactly LT friendly atm either. Werent they trying to offload Wallace though? A Wallace and Hamilton for Tmac and Landry would be closer on the books and they also get a proven prospect to which they can move Amir to the C and maybe let Landry start? for us it will keep us moving in the PO direction where in the West every win counts especially right now. In the East Detroit will still make it even if TMac doesnt play. they replace a epiring contract with a young one for 3 more years, a base contract at that. Wallace's expiring gives us more to play with Artest granted he continues to do well. Who knows maybe Wallace and Artest can get along and Wallace's 3 point range will clear up the pain for Yao.
Well, it could be Johnson/Brown in the package or Wallace. I think Sheed is too important to them though.
