http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/ny-spknotes295981178dec29,0,5920246.story If the Knicks were interested in Kleiza because he would far far cheaper to re-sign than Lee... Landry's much better than Kleiza and is already locked into cap friendly contract.
John Salmons and Brad Miller for Mcgrady works. I'd do it without hesitation. Miller's contract expires next season and Salmons has one more season beyond that but is only making about $5 million per. We'd cut payroll by a few million, get a solid but aging backup C that could also play alongside Yao. Not to mention the fact that he's a great passer who excelled under Adelman. More importantly, we would also get a solid young SG in Salmons. He's $15 million cheaper and is far more effective than the current McGrady, especially if you factor in production per dollar. For some people, it's hard to let go of the name (T-Mac). They can't get past this to realize that a trade like this one would improve this team now and in the future. The Kings are likely trying to move Miller at this point and even though Salmons is good, they have Martin and Garcia signed long term as well as a young prospect in Donte Green all at the wing positions. There isn't enough playing time for all those guys when they're all healthy.
Honestly I'm surprised nobody replied to your post. This is a very enticing trade IMO, look at it this way: First Caron Butler is a very young and talented player that just wants to win. He is a very athletic slasher with jump shooting qualities. He can also play the 2 or 3 so there is versatilty in his game. Another great quality that many people over look is the fact that he is a willing defender, and very good at it. Second we can finally get rid of Head and (hopefully) won't be affected by the injury bug with Tmac leaving. I understand that Butler 100% is no Tmac 100% but seriously can we count on Tmac ever being 100 for one full season? So I'd definitely take that upside. Plus we get 2 BIG MEN for 2 undersized PFs for a relatively good price. If this offer was sitting on the table... I'd take it in a heartbeat.
why would they want Tracy then? to save the 1 extra year on Salmons 3 year deal? it's not a completely unrealistic deal, and it saddens me to think the reason it might be unrealistic is because why would Sacramento do it (not why would the Rockets do it). Certainly you can't argue that Salmons is a better player than T-Mac. Before this year, he's never been anything but average. And while this year's been great, we've seen plenty of players come and go that scored a bunch one year to only suck again thereafter - Mike James comes to mind immediately. Luol Deng's doing his best impersonation of that this year. But, he at least plays every game, he's young(er) and has been improving every year, he hits his FT's, he's shooting at such a great clip this year, and he's paid a lot less. you're right that he is somewhat duplicative when you have Kevin Martin, Garcia (though Salmons is clearly better) and Greene waiting in the wings, but then, so would Tracy be. I'd definitely do it, but would Sacramento?
good thinking. that'd be a great trade. maybe entice the knicks with something like Landry + Wafer for Lee + Roberson Apparently, though Landry has the right to veto any trade in the first year post signing since the Rockets exercised their right of first refusal to keep him.
The only teams that would want TMac would be (1) in a win now mode and (2) looking to clear space for 2010. Furthermore, we would not trade him to any of the contenders in the West. The way I see it, you're limited to trading with Detroit, Cleveland, and Toronto. Maybe TMac for Tayshaun Prince, Kwame Brown, and Amir Johnson? Other than that, I don't see TMac getting traded.

http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/56261/20081229/cleveland_interested_in_gerald_wallace/ Bobcats' forward Gerald Wallace's name remains a mainstay in trade rumors, and the Cavaliers could have interest. Many believe that Wallace would work well off the bench for Cleveland, and a deal involving Eric Snow, Sasha Pavlovic, and Tarence Kinsey might be able to get the job done. How come we don't go after him? He is signed for 4 years. Alston, Head, and Hayes for G. Wallace works.
That's a crime if Cleveland gets him for that cheap. Wallace is nowhere near as good as Gasol but this could rival the Gasol-to-LA trade in terms of impact on a borderline title contending team. Wallace could potentially launch Cleveland into a different stratosphere the same way Gasol instantly bolstered the Lakers. Again, no way this happens....IMO. Not only would people cry about Cleveland dramatically improving but Charlotte receives NOTHING of value in return. Translated: they trade J-Rich and Gerald Wallace for Diaw, Bell, Pavlovic, Tinsey and Snow -- complete garbage. I don't think Charlotte is that desperate (or stupid) to get rid of Wallace's contract this way.
trade head for Anthony Randolph of Golden state......or head for NAZR MOHAMMED of the bobcats......an another thing fire the coach!!! this guy just don't see who's puttin' out....it'z Brooks,Landry,Ron,Yao when he wants to...He seems to be more in the game, when the other player shows him up...that means the Coach is not pushin' him...The right Coach can stick a key in his back an start his big ass up...now Twac this guy..has no appreciation..........
why would golden state want head? they have enough shooters at the guard position that are much better than head.
He's cheap, he's expiring, and by all accounts he's a nice guy that won't cause problems in the locker room. Additionally, he is a very good 3pt shooter, and plenty of teams might want/need that. The Rockets do too, but they already have 7 (yes, 7) other players shooting at least 36% from beyond the arc. Therefore Luther is expendable.
Butler is enticing...but with Haywood coming off of wrist surgery and Thomas being a mediocre-at-best PF role player, this doesn't sound like a deal that the Rockets would do. Thomas does play with a lot of energy but there won't be much on the offenive side of the court from him. And considering the salary of Arenas who has more injury problems than Tmac, I doubt the Wizards would take on another large contract of an injury prone player.
