What possible reason would Sacramento give up a promising young center who is under control for cheap? Francis would actually increase their payroll this year and it's not like Hawes' contract is anything close to a burden on them. Plus, Brad Miller is at the end of his playing days. They'd probably be more inclined to trade Miller than Hawes since they are in rebuilding mode.
Yep, Hawes has been a pleasant surprise to the Kings with his immediate contribution, the Kings won't even trade him for Scola or Landry. Besides, Francis has negative trade value, so in return we'd only get a player of negative value as well.
Felton is the only other starting PG in the NBA shooting under 40% for his career. Why would we want another Rafer?
1. low risk at making the Rockets worse if he's the same 2. high potential of becoming better than Rafer 3. has proven he's capable of averaging averaging 7.4 assists a season with a team with a lot less talent, thus forcing him to score more
Who do we have that they want? Carl Landry? Nope, we aint gonna give up Carl for Felton. Delonte West is a MUCH better choice. I've always been a huge fan of Delonte on the Rockets. Exactly the type of PG we need. Can shoot, can pass, can defend, has size, and can even block a little! What about Carl Landry Luther Head Delonte West JJ Hickson
Alston +Head(expiring) +Francis(expiring) for Jarrett Jack(expiring) + Jeff Foster(expiring) Rockets save $1.994M Jack, Brooks McGrady, Barry, Wafer Artest, Battier Scola, Landry, Hayes, Dorsey Yao, Foster, Deke
It would be great to have Jack, but the issue would be Pacers have no use for Alston(most of the league doesn't). Anyways, as much as t-mac is our big guy, I think we need to trade him before he gets more inconsistent. The idea would be to stay on our competitive path, get decent point guards, and go young, athletic, who can still perform immediately. I think the blazers have what we are looking for and we have something they could use as well. Let me know if this is reasonable: Rockets : Tracy Mcgrady Rafer Alston Aaron Brooks For Blazers: Steve Blake Jarryd Bayless Rudy Fernandez Raef Lafrentz Travis Outlaw Ok, this does a few things for both sides. For rockets, we are saving money, this year and next year a ton. -We are also getting a stable pointguard who can get the job done, spread the court with a good shot, and play great defense immediately at starting pg in Blake. - To back him up, we get a future all star who can just spark off the bench in Bayless. -We get Rudy Fernandez who is a manu ginobili type player who is an extremely aware player offensively, can get steals, is a great passer, shooter, and great team mentality. He can step in and play immediately and currently has a per better than t-mac. He allows us to get a palyer who can blend and contribute anyplace, and still build off of Yao and Artest - Travis Outlaw is the 6th man type of role who gives us a great scorer off the bench that we can bring in with shane battier. -Raef gives us an expiring contract. -As for the blazers. They get Rafer to step in the pg who can hold his own. -They get t-mac as another star who will keep them competitive, and play off of Roy and Oden as there starting sf. -they get a young up and comer in aaron brooks -Most of all they have a young core of Roy, Aldridge, Oden. They can extend those guys with big contracts and build off of them, however with all the young players(bayless, outlaw, fernandez) they can't extend them all in two years when all of em go up for new contracts. This gives them financially sound core and stilll a lot of money in 2010 when rafer and t-mac go off the books yet keep them competitive throughout the time.
delonte is exactly what this team needs but no way the cavs do that trade. Trade alston, landry and head and they MIGHT do it
Too much to give for a above mediocre point guard. Losing Landry would be losing power in the low post in this team so this trade doesnt make sense. The only trade that would make sense is maybe Luther Head for some big man.
I like this kid too. I have been hyping him as well. I don't know why Morey hasn't made the call. Neither player makes that much, in terms of salary. Luther Head salary matches Williams perfectly, plus he is 6'10" and block shots!!!!!!!! Luther would be off of New Jersey's salary cap after this year or they would have the right of first refusal if they liked him.
Are you a Rockets fan or a Pacers fan? Rafer is probably not a good offensive player but he is a excellent floor general!! Jarrett Jack is a backup and so is A. Brooks, Rafer knows how to run a team. This would be a bad trade.
Why would the Pacers do this. If they are giving up two players with expiring contracts in Jack and Foster, why take back Rafer who doesnt come off the books this year. Unless they felt he was a clear upgrade at the PG spot over Jack, it doesnt make sense for them. Not to mention it would add almost 2 million to their cap if your figures are right. The only way we get Jeff Foster is if we take Tinsley as well. I dont see the Pacers trading anyone unless Tinsley is included and there is no way I want that guy on this team.
Hayes has been awesome this year with his post defense. Why would we trade for McDyess who only adds minimal increases in offense when compared to Landry or Scola, yet is leaps and bounds behind Chuck on defense. If we need scoring from the four spot put in Landry or Scola. Its not like Chuck makes a bunch of money. there is no reason to shop him at this point.
They need a backup TJ Ford for next season. Rafer has another season to go on his contract. If they re-sign Jack he's unlikely to agree to an one year guaranteed deal so that'll eat into their 2009 free agency salary space. Troy Murphy is ahead of Foster in their playing rotation. They also have Nesterovic and Hibbert. The Pacers are around $2.1M under LT.
