I wonder if Morey is ready to go all in on offense yet? 76ers need more offense without sacrificing defense. Rockets need elite defense, playmaking and much more length. Trade AFTER 02/02/2021 https://tradenba.com/trades/2FsWk6b3K PHI: Oladipo, Tucker, House HOU: Simmons, Thybulle, Korkmaz 6'4 Wall/6'7 Korkmaz 6'3 EGo/6'4 Porter 6'5 Thybulle/6'5 Brown 6'10 Simmons/6'5 Nwaba 6'10 Wood/6'4 Tate
wtf. No. Achiuwa upside case is current Trez. I’m not interested in trading Oladipo for Trez. Unless there were better and/or a lot of picks involved. I think all those proposed trades suck imo.
CF just does not understand that Rockets cannot outscore the best teams, but they can lock them down with elite defense.
Rockets not keeping Jarrett Allen was pure stupidity. He was an expiring contract and he is 10× better than Kurucs and Exum combined. And his salary was nothing. Stone F'ed that part of the trade. Rockets could have used Taurean Prince too.
Yea I really like Prince. Allen would have been helpful no doubt. However we probably werent going to pony up to re sign him and I like the potential hit factor on that Bucks pick if they get hit with injuries.
That tweet says Christian Wood is named and written at center/5 in ink. As if Wood-Allen wouldn't have made a nice 4-5 front court duo? It's nice to know how they view things. Definitely need to focus on upgrading size/strength at 3 and 4 if the 5 to be is 220 lbs. Christian Wood.
https://tradenba.com/trades/Sdy2cWo4y Just tooling around. VO can't be traded in this manner until Feb 2. Worth the wait? Wall - Brown - Tate - AGordon - Wood Eating a lot of salary to get rid of Gordon but hey, it's better than paying him that salary 3 more seasons
If we strip it all down and trade all of our non-core players with positive value to contenders, here’s what we look like: Wall / Jones Gordon / Porter Jr. House Tate Wood Admittedly, that team looks kinda fun. Not a playoff team, but one that could get a play-in spot. As far as values on the players we would trade away: Oladipo: 2 1st Tucker: 1 late 2021 1st McLemore: 2 2nds Brown: 2 2nds Nwaba: 1 2nd This is just in terms of picks. You could sub in prospects for picks depending on what you think you are getting back. I still like the idea of arbitraging Tucker and Aminu. Trade Tucker into someones TPE for a pick, then take Aminu into our own TPE for either no compensation or something coming with him, like a 2nd.
Exum and 2 2nds from the Wolves (or maybe our late 1st rounder) to the Bulls Tucker to the Wolves Thad Young, Ed Davis and Jarred Vanderbilt to the Rockets. Get bigger while only giving up one rotation piece. Bulls have a few serviceable bigs in Gafford, Lauri and WCJ, while it looks like they may have given up in Arcidiacano meaning they only really play Sato to back up Coby. Thad could be the PJ replacement of the future for us. Been shooting really well from 3 too. Only issue is this hamstrings us for cap space next year since Thads contract is for 2 years.
More random: Rockets Larry Nance Jr. Nice complement to Wood on a good contract helps with rebounding. Fills the role of the departing Tucker. Cav Spencer Dinwiddie They are loaded with bigs so this balance out the team Nets Tucker & House Basically a two for one in depth; already Harden a proven. Win / Win / Win
Think Cavs lose out here - Nance has been fantastic this year. Maybe route House to them and the deal becomes a bit more equitable
I don’t think we should do anything at this point that cost us draft assets. We should focus on reclamation projects, leveraging our cap flexibility into additional draft compensation/prospects, and moving our expirings. That said, I don’t think we should truly tank. Killing Gordon and Walls trade values, as well as hurting Wood and Tates development is not worth the small chance we get a transformational player. Trade expirings for picks and prospects. Use cap flexibility to take on more picks and pickup depressed assets. Rebuild value for said depressed assets via a good environment and structure and trade them for more picks/prospects. Rinse repeat.
Houston trades: Wall/House/Exum + two FRP Detroit trades: Grant/Griffin/Rose We get out of the final year of Wall’s contract (saving nearly $50M) while acquiring the best player in the deal, Grant. Would fit nicely next to Wood. Rose is a playable expiring contract. Blake is washed but his contract is expiring after next year. Detroit does it to get the better player in the Wall/Griffin abysmal contract battle, while stockpiling some picks and taking a flyer on House. They might want more to part with Grant, but they’re the worst team in the league with or without him.
Then Rockets could have moved Allen later for more assets. Like Exum, Allen is an expiring contract. Unlike Exum, Allen has value beyond his expiring contract. Allen can also contribute on the court right now. Stone F'ed this up, not even debatable.
They are in flux for sure. They have to start building around someone eventually though, do you not agree with building around Wood? Or just not as a 5...
. Tucker+ Mclemore,+Gordon + Oladipo to any 5- 8th seed team with a young potential scorer in the line up to spare.
Right now I'm open to anything. If Jarrett Allen was on the team, I would consider playing Wood at 4. Or do what Cavs are doing with Drummond and Allen, it's working wonders for them.
