Fournier and Aminu for Eric Gordon and TPE (Aminu) then PJ Tucker to 76ers for their 2021 1st and TPE This is a way to cut future salary, get a pick, and potentially fill a forward spot. We should be able to drop back below the luxury tax with just one minor move, like cutting Cousins. Sign Noel after he’s bought out Wall / Brown Oladipo / Fournier House / McLemore Aminu / Tate Wood / Noel
Brooklyn had already hired MDA and Harden made his trade request to go there when Jeff signed with them. If Jeff wanted to stay in the same system then he went to the right place.
This trade can be broken up into 3 trades but combined here for simplicity sake. https://tradenba.com/trades/R3mhbehT6 ORL: Kevin Love, Danuel House, DeMarcus Cousins CLE: John Wall, Eric Gordon, Chris Clemons PHI: PJ Tucker HOU: Andre Drummond, Aaron Gordon, Evan Fournier, Mo Bamba, Kevin Porter Jr. + FRP 6'4 Dipo/6'4 Jones/6'5 Porter 6'5 Thybulle/6'5 Brown/6'5 Nwaba 6'8 AG/6'7 Fournier/6'6 KJ 6'10 Wood/6'4 Tate/6'9 Kurucs 6'10 Drummond/7'0 Bamba *These Rockets have the requisite size and physicality to compete vs. Lakers, Clips, Nuggets, Mavs, etc. *Rockets improve rim protection, disruptions, rebounding, perimeter iso defense. *Three ballhandlers in starting 5 - Dipo, AG, Drum *Rockets improve bench 3ball shooting - Fournier, Brown, BMac, Bamba, etc. *Boogie not eligible for trade until March 1 so BMac can be substituted if trade needs to happen sooner. *Dump Clemons contract, add roster spot *Expiring contracts: Oladipo, Drummond, Bamba, Fournier
@D-rock I'm on the trade the Gordons train now. Eric + Portland FRP for Aaron. My next move would be 3 FRP + House + PJ for MPJ then sign Jones to a 3 year deal with the MLE with that open roster spot created. Wall/Jones Oladipo/McLeMore MPJ/Brown AGo/Tate Wood/Boogie
Welcome to the AG train!!!! If Rockets are willing to trade 3 FRP I would consider @finsraider idea to trade for Jerami Grant. Jerami is much better defender than MPJ and better complement to Wood and AG. Thirdly, Jerami does not have any injury or dumbass conspiracy concerns. Wall Oladipo Jerami AG Wood
@treyk3 We never used our MLE, did we? The Wood trade was a S&T, and we couldn't use our MLE because we were at the hard cap. Screw 3 years, we got our full NT MLE, give that man Mason 4 years
This is decent as the teams get to fill some holes. Cleveland gets guards depth. They have way too many bigs. Couple of the Bigs are on big contracts. They can shed those by getting rid of Love and Drummond. Phily gets a good 3&D and is playoff contention. HOU gets size, Drummond at the Center spot to compliment wood. AG is 6'9", a very nice tall guy to have at the 3 SF spot. We're too short and Bruno's in the dog house. ORL is the one where it may be harder to convince. Unless AG is unhappy, why they'd ship him out for Love, Cousins, and House. Unless Rockets throw picks to sweeten the deal.
CJ Mccollum just fractured his foot -- I wonder if Portland would be desperate enough to trade for Gordon as a stop gap to shore up the backcourt and make sure they don't miss the playoffs in a prime Dame year.
With Harden gone I no longer see the appeal of Aaron Gordon. He's talented but his struggles with consistency and efficiency aren't going to improve here. We're basically Orlando now. The limitations he had there would follow him.
House replaces Fournier at starting SG/SF who is expiring. Also better defender. Love and Cousins are super spacers at their respective 4/5 spots that also complements both Jonathan Isaac AND Vucecic, especially if used off the bench. And Love and Cousins are also former All Stars and provide championship pedigree for Magic's bounty of very young talent. Boogie also adds grit to this bottom of the playoffs team.
Rockets are struggling with defense, badly. AG immediately becomes the best iso defender for bigs. Also adds another legit ball handler which Rockets lack. AG would have been perfect alongside Harden but his skill set also fits the triple threat philosophy that Silas prefers. And AG at 6'8 is taller and longer than ANY forward on this Rockets team.
MPJ does have high upside offensively. Especially when compared with Jerami Grant, AG, maybe even Wood. But pairing MPJ with Wood will look like Keystone Cops on defense. MPJ is also still mostly a catch and shoot guy so will need facillitator to really unlock him.
