^ do you not remember why they traded Clint in the first place??

it’s nice and all to say small ball doesn’t work. But with Russ, neither did large ball really.

they are not trading for a center that can’t at least pretend to spread the floor.

3 guys who create their own offense AND top 20 in disruptions? All 3 are double double machines.

Not to mention Drummond has led NBA in rebounds 4 times.

Analytics really are dead in CF.

Teams would just double harden again and we would have no answer again.

Plus on the harden and Drummond pick and roll teams wouldn’t have to worry about the pick and pop with Drummond clogging the lane for James or Russ again.

I’m struggling to figure out how to get February westbrook and peak harden at the same time. Next coach needs to bring a center in for starting games but closing lineups will always be small ball for this year imo. I’d give Tucker an extension Bc if u trade harden next offseason id sent tucker anywhere with him

Getting out from Gordon's deal and adding a useful big man would be great. Not sure why the Cavs would do this though.

Main difference is that Drummond can actually put ball on court and drive to rim. Something very few TRUE centers can do. Doubling Harden would be much more difficult with Drummond and Westbrook.

And Drummond has been working on his 3ball, his form is actually very good.

“I’ve been working on it for eight straight years,” Drummond said following his debut. “This is the first team to let me use it, so it’s something I will be using more and more. Have the green light to shoot it in rhythm. Shoot it when I’m open. Take the shot. It’s something I’ve worked on so I feel comfortable taking it.”

    https://www.cleveland.com/cavs/2020...s-not-ready-to-give-him-that-freedom-yet.html

But the biggest liability with Drummond is at 6'10.5 with 7-5 wingspan he is not switchable.

But neither is Aron Baynes or Meyers Leonard.

    Or even Clint Capela.

Rockets would have to adjust their defense as much as their offense (add motion) in 2020.

Drummond certainly not my 1st choice but having 3 Rockets who can get their own buckets is intriguing.

Plus Drummond is a true 5.

    https://www.freep.com/story/sports/nba/2017/11/08/detroit-pistons-andre-drummond/839979001/

“He’s always been good at it so we’ve just tried to incorporate them more,” Stan Van Gundy said. “He’s a good ball-handler and I think playing through him, his rolls put pressure on the defense. We can put teams in some tough predicaments with him handling the ball and being able to roll. A lot of times with the dribble handoffs, he can get to the rim quicker than he can off a pick-and-roll.”

    Absolutely not.

    I'm just providing options.

Maybe slightly lowering my expectations with Morey leaving as well.

    Would love Sabonis too.

How is Turner going to alleviate Harden double?

Especially after Lakers showed entire NBA how effective peel switches were on Rockets stationary 3 point shooters?

Rockets need bigs that not only are threat from 3 but have ability to put ball on floor and create shot for himself as well as for teammates.

    That is not Turner.

Rockets need to think 3 steps ahead of every other team. Not 1 step ahead.

Bigs like AG, Sabonis, even Drummond.

Turner can shoot the 3 at a decent clip and can hit an elbow jumper.

    Rockets in:
    Rubio, Oubre, Baynes (S&T 2yr/$10m)
    Suns in:
    Westbrook

Suns do this because they don’t give up much at all. They did great in the bubble without Oubre, and Baynes is a free agent anyway. Bridges broke out and should take that SF position anyway from Oubre. Westbrook, Booker, Bridges, Johnson, Ayton is a solid young starting 5 and by the time Westbrook’s contract is up the younger ones will all be entering their prime together. Rockets get good pieces.

    Pistons In:
    Gordon, 1st
    Rockets in:
    Wood

    raptors in:
    Tucker, House
    Rockets in:
    Ibaka

    Rubio
    Harden
    Oubre
    Covington
    Ibaka
    Baynes
    Rivers
    McLemore
    Gerald Green (??)
    Jeff Green (??)

could potentially even sign Gallinari with the MLE, or take the risk on Demarcus Cousins.

Side note: I think this season has the potential to have a fantastic buyout market with Demar Derozan, LaMarcus Aldridge and Blake Griffin at the front of the list.

Not able to create if faced with a peel switch.

And Turner's 3ball is not as good as Meyers Leonard. Both guys are not switchable or very good rebounders either.
