@D-rock We just had a discussion about Bruno on another thread. How do you feel about this trade? Should free up some money in the process.....allowing the Rockets to possibly bring back Jeff Green and possibly one of Bolden or Bruno. Sign Gerald Green to replace McLemore at vet min. https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/7330389 Houston in: Oubre Kaminsky Cheick Diallo x Suns in: Eric Gordon D House McLemore Cheick and Kamnsky are team options. Team opts them in prior to trade. Houston roster Westbrook..........Rivers (if he wants to come back) Harden................Gerald Green/ Nwab Oubre..................Nwab/ Tucker/ Covington Tucker.................Covington/ Daillo Kaminsky............Tucker/ Jeff Green (Bruno? Bolden?) Phoenix can absorb salary. Have an up and coming Cameron Johnson to replace Oubre (w/House). McLemore/Eric Gordon backing up Booker. Kaminsky 112 DRtg this past season. Good for 25 minutes a game and can easily sit on the bench with his modest salary of $5M. 33% (3P% this past season).
This philosophy is great when there is one team to beat wnd u are the 2nd best team. Morey needs to build a versatile team that can beat the Lakers and Warriors at the same time. And a coach that can adjust rotations to playing both teams
3 Way Gordon's Trade - Rockets, Pacers, Magic http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y3ynglnh This is about the only trade i see helping the rockets. You have to give to upgrade. Magic need vet exp at PF, Rockets need youth to keep up with harden and westbrook new style of play. Mcdemott replaces what gordon gives. Plus you get Turner, your new center, Tucker replacement., who will space the floor with Gordon. Missing pieces they talk about, get some younger blood on the court w/ Height to Certify Small ball exp and get your rebounding numbers back up.. They were just to small..
Love the trade for Oubre but would not insist on Kaminsky. He cannot switch everything on D. Even on Suns, Kaminsky is getting limited reps. They are better on D when he is not in line up. Bruno and/or Bolden are better fits for Rockets than Kaminsky IMO. And neither would be starters. There are 3ball shooters I'd rather have over Kaminsky: Langston Galloway, Ryan Broekhoff, Theo Pinson, etc. There are 3ball centers id rather have over Kaminsky too: Aron Baynes, Kyle O'Quinn, Derrick Favors, etc.
This would be like taking a flu vaccine but the year's flu virus winds up being different than the one anticipated.
Well the point of the trade is mostly to free up money to afford signings of Jeff Green/Gerald Green/ and one of Bruno or Bolden (maybe both). Suns are going into next season with a $91M payroll and can absorb salary and the Rockets won’t have to bring back dollar for dollar. I’m hearing Baynes will be one of the top 4 centers taken in free agency: Marc Gasol, Drummond, Ibaka and Baynes. Baynes will probably get $12 to $15 million. I’m looking at Kaminsky 20 mins/gm at $5M while shooting 33% or better. Currently 20+ minutes and 33% from 3 on three attempts per game. 112 DRtg......people tell me Eric Gordon is a good defender while sporting a 115 DRtg. O’Quinn was getting 10 minutes a game this season and shooting 26% from 3. Price might be right, but kinda low on 3-pt %. Derrick Favors wants to go back to Utah and Utah wants him back.....but they have something like $11 million to play with. Jordan Clarkson will probably leave. They have to pay another facilitator and the only one they might land is DJ Augustine. He will probably want $9 million of that $11 million. Maybe re-sign Mudiay, but he stinks. I Feel sorry for D Mitchell. Conley is always hurt. Hopefully they can draft someone to help facilitate. Not trying to be too critical with you. I’m looking at a center with size just to help out Tucker. Playing center for a shortened season is one thing but 82 games? Tucker may need some help from a guy with size like Kaminsky 7’0” here and there vs big centers. Most often than not....the Rockets will be playing small ball for most of the season.
Bruno’s name being tossed into rotations as if he showed Zion potential in the few games (minutes) he played. Imagine how nuts Morey must go to read threads about how he doesn’t do his job well but also about how the team needs more Bruno. If we played Bruno, we have the potential to make the second round next year, as we did when we didn’t play him.
No chance Jae Crowder accepts our full MLE. Unfortunate, because I would love to have a 3 guard rotation of Harden Russ and EG; and a 3 forward rotation of Tucker RoCo and Crowder. We’d still have House and Ben. May mean we don’t get to keep Jeff Green unless he takes the minimum. And then have to settle on signing veteran centres.
