I'm all for signing Willie Reed at the vet min for the rest of the season. Cut Melo for him. House should get MCW's place. Trade Ennis by Feb 7th. Sign a good buyout if possible to replace him. I didn't even know that Reed was playing in the G-League.
Rockets shouldn't trade Ennis. He's pretty weak player, but they won't find better wing at the buyout market. 3-D wings are most demanded players in the NBA now. Almost all teams want to have more 3-D wings. They will not be waived.
Yes, they won't be waived, but if Carroll or Zach are waived, I would take them over a struggling wing who is not getting better. If Ennis unexpectedly improves, then I would want him to stay in Houston.
Zach Randolph? He is not a wing. He is an old school power forward and very bad fit for the Rockets. Nets won't waive Carroll. Rockets need a trade and good wings will cost a lot.
Right. And who’s to say his confidence will come back to its peak? Or come back ever. Do you know how many guys aren’t the same after an injury? And he’s not young. There are some dudes who are right back to where they were a game or two after coming back from an injury. The only thing we know for certain is Luc is not one of those guys.
I know he isn't. We don't have the assets for a quality wing at this point which we all want or a long 4/3. Zach is a slowish big, but we need bigs too, and he may be the best available if he is bought out. He can score and rebound. Ennis has been regressing throughout the season. I have taken his injury into consideration. Perhaps he may still get better, but I doubt it. I do agree with you that the Nets don't want to buy Carroll out, but they expect more defense from him. I wanted Khem Birch for Ennis and a low 1st rounder or preferably a high 2nd round. It's too bad that Llull has no trade value, because of his insistence to stay in Europe. Addendum: I think Dallas may want a 1st for Wesley Matthews, but they won't give up him by buying him out, I believe. He might be able to play well on the Rockets.
I don't think Sacramento is going to waive Randolph because it really doesn't benefit them as he's an expiring contract. Same situation/scenario as Rolo and Chicago. Even if it's a moderately protected 2nd rounder or getting back a Can't Play Kanter, that's still a better return for the Kings than to waive Randolph at this point. Maybe they do a solid for him and work a buyout after the trade deadline so that he can join a playoff team.
Yes, I made an error by mentioning the word waived, I meant a buyout for Zach and have already made that change in my post related to this discussion. Thanks a lot.
No worries. I think ZBo can contribute to a certain extent. The guy is a good free throw shooter and should be able to eat up a few minutes to rest the other players.
Stein is reporting that Atlanta is already dangling Dedmon and Baze, weeks prior to the deadline. I would have no problem giving up picks in that kind of deal.
I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but I was thinking something like Knight + Gordon + a 1st for Dedmon and Baze. Or Chriss + Knight + 2 1sts. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yb77qlbe
Zach Randolph hasn’t played a single game this season. And he wasn’t exactly in fantastic shape when last seen. He’s helping nobody this season. He’s just an expiring contract.
And yet now he has another injury. The fact is he had his best stretch of games with us but then he got hurt and was never the same. Morey was genius not to spend a cent of the MLE on him despite all the outside noise. You can’t deny this fact. He has not played this season. Doesn’t matter if it was by fluke or not.
All that matter is PO. I'm pretty sure he will be fine when the important games come. But I'm absolutely not sure that Rockets will have a decent wing in the playoffs. If Morey will get someone cheaper and better than Luc and he will not spend any assets - OK, he is genius, otherwise he is fool. Yes, he already found Danuel House, who is pretty good, but he is SG-SF with small wingspan. He can't fully replace Luc or Ariza.
This is a good read from @KellyUnchained on some options to fill the big man role while Capela is out. Some trade targets.
Luc is your answer in the playoffs? Your answer to our wing issue is a guy who last year in the playoffs was horrible and dealing with mental issues, has never done anything note worthy in the playoffs in his career, and has another injury and hasn’t played this year. Man you must think GMing is a joke. “I’m pretty sure he’ll be fine when the playoffs come”. That’s re-assuring based on the facts.
