Knight + 1st for McLemore drops us below the lux tax for this season.

I would only trade Knight if it meant getting a big name player who is good enough to start.

    I would do this trade:
OUT: Eric Gordon, Brandon Knight, multiple 1st round picks
    IN: Kevin Love, Rodney Hood

This gives you a Harden/Paul/Love/Capela core for this year and the next 2 years.

You could either bring Tucker off the bench for a stronger defensive bench unit or move him to the SF spot. Hood gives you another wing who can shoot 3s.

    No luxury tax forever!!!
There is no better trade than this for Tilman.
    Kings would demand 2 picks.

    Cavs land Knight/Rockets 2019 First
    Rockets land Mclemore
    Kings land JR/Rockets 2021 First

It might work, but that is too much for them. The 2019 1st rounder might end up being a lottery pick.

I would like the Rockets to consider Rodney Hood again. He started the season out like trash but is now
sporting good numbers. Rockets would the be a true contender with:
Harden/CP3/Gordon/GGreen rotating in the PG/SG spot
Hood/Ennis/House/GGreen/Tucker rotating in the SF spot(s)
    Tucker/Clark taking care of PF
Capela/Nene/Hartenstein/Tucker rotating into the center spot.

Just find the best PG in the G-league available or vet backup PG to help out in case of emergency (CP3/Gordon injury)

Let's face it. No one will consider Knight till Feb 7th even if he starts playing well. Chriss might be tradable with a 1st rounder plus Hart. Green could be an asset if he agrees to be traded. Tucker must be retained. MCW and Melo might yield low 2nd rounders.
Addendum: I'm not in favor of giving up a 1st rounder for a marginal player or for a UFA.

I really think the goal is to get out of the tax this year …. since they are just as likely to be an end of the lottery team as they are to do any damage in the playoffs. Makes little sense to pay the tax and be in that situation …. I just hope that they don't give up assets that can help them retool as a result - like tying a #1 pick to Knight to shed his contract for little to no return just to escape the tax , that would piss me off.

Curious if you see EG as part of the long term plan (beyond this year) … He'd be the part I'd move for a draft pick and little salary in return as that can get you out of the tax and he can help a contender. Or is it unreasonable to expect that kind of return for EG ?

The goal is to have the option to get out of the tax this year OR upgrade with a superstar this year. ...or upgrade with a superstar over the summer. Any proposed trades should be viewed with the idea of synergizing those goals.

I think MIA wants to keep Winslow and trade Goran however I am confused on how their roster is constructed. Their Roster appears to be in WIN NOW mode.

At this point , aint no damn stars available , that ship sailed with Jimmy Buckets. New Orleans aint picking up the phone and offering AD for those 4 picks and crap contracts.

The first part of that may change , a star may shake loose …. and it'd be nice to have the assets to swing a big deal. That second part … no change.

My point was instead of Paying someone to take Knight's contract , extract an asset for EG …. that is assuming EG is not in the long term plans.

In doing so you still have a large contract to make deals with and …. another asset in your war chest to make future deals.

The question for Bima was …. Is EG part of the long term plans or not.

Trade EG for McLemore = no luxury tax forever

Kings would make the playoffs, no Rockets.

The thing is, we're not out to tank the season. If a trade saves us a little luxury tax, great.

Instead of being Tilman's accountant, why not be a Rockets fan (not a homer; I don't mean "be a homer") and think up a trade that would help the team?

the EG for McLemore post was a joke....i believe? i hope? lol

sadly we have to hope EG turns his season around, i think that is far more likely than getting a piece in a trade that will help.

    Yes, I work for Tilman.

Do you know how much $$ Tilman save for this deal?
    This year: 27 million
    Next year: 42 million

and then, trade the future picks for good players
Melo/MCW/2 picks for Jaylen Brown/Rozier via 3rd team
    Chriss/2019 First for Wizards Morris
    Nene/2021 First for Justin Holiday
