I've been getting phone calls from RANDOM locations, unknown but very weird phone numbers, etc. It is not at a consistent time but mostly close to lunch time (like a couple minutes before this post), and afternoon. Never at night, and aside from today, never in the wee hours of the morning. I don't know any of these locations under the phone number as my iPhone shows it. WTF? These are just from this past week until today: Is anyone else here in Clutchfans familiar with these or have gotten the same calls? Dang it... please don't post the [ALIENS history channel guy] pic.
all I did was google one (the third) number.... http://www.whycall.me/620-504-7452.html Look up the rest there, and also look at the posts of other people who have been called (toward the bottom), they get it figured out usually.
I get these all the time. I never answer and usually just google them. Most are just machines calling numbers in sequential order to see which ones are in service. Or scammers trying to sell home alarm systems (to get all your personal info). The number showing up on your caller ID isn't the number they're calling from. Or the location. They disguise it so you can't block them.
^ Yeap. I don't answer either. You are correct. I just noticed as I went back further on my records and the McPherson, Kansas one has tried to contact me twice. On one of them I answered and there was nothing. I think I can block any subsequent one if I get them again.
I've recently had a bunch of these calls too, but mine won't show locations and some just come up as "unknown." Often times, the ones that do show a number come up as international numbers because the number is preceded by +47 or +29 or what have you. They come in waves. I won't have one for a few weeks, but then on a certain day, Thanksgiving Day was one of them, I'll get three within an hour. I'll answer one occasionally and no one ever picks up. It's just a dead line on the other end.
being on the do not call list has helped us. i also took time to remove myself from all the mailing lists too. only thing we get in the mail now are bills.
Dang it SwoLy, answer the phone and tell them you're the grammar police, and you're going to hunt them down with proper punctuation!...... ....... ....... .......
I realize you're only having phone problems, but here's a summary of everything: Opt out of prescreened credit card and insurance offers for 5 years, or permanently Stop telemarketers Opt out of commerical mail (paper and/or electronic)
If you google these numbers, you see that most of the people being called are already on the Do Not Call list. These people are scammers, I don't really expect them to adhere to some silly do not call list.
I had my phone registered back in 2004. I received confirmation from donotcall.gov (thanks, Supermac34) about that. I think I will submit these few numbers to them. Duh, shhh-yeah. If I didn't pay my bills, why would THEY be quiet on the other side of the phone? You don't think they'd be leaving messages, trying to talk to me, getting me to answer phone calls? They have no reason to hide themselves and neither do I. Are you sure you work for HR?
