I need to fill up this weekend. I guess I should be prepared for a good lube job too....and I'm not talking about my car, savvy?
Savez. Just thought I'd throw that out there... In Delaware, gas is over 3.10/gallon. My mother in Illinois is paying something similar. Right now I'm blessing my stars that I pretty much live on campus (rented house closer than all of the dorms) and can bike to class. Other than that, I'm able to use my moped to get around... 60+ miles per gallon. I get two gallons every other week, at most. I wouldn't be surprised, even if/when gas prices drop, that a large number of people will switch to motorcycles, mopeds & a small percentage of hybrids. What do you think? Just out of curiosity, is anyone biking to where they need to go, even if they get a little sweaty or smelly? I realize how difficult that is to do in Houston, but I'm just wondering...
I filled up at 2.89 last night in the northside. It looks like I'm taking the commuter bus to UH next week...
I just paid $3.15 for Exxon Soooopreeem in Dallas. Now I'll look back and say "I remember where I was when I first paid $40 for gas". Of course I said that when I first paid $30 and I don't recall where that was...
Well I'm about to go Escalade shopping, anyone want a couple while I'm out? ooooooo Navigators 2 for the price of one!
i guess it was the gas station owners who were manipulating the gasoline futures trading which caused it to spike 41 cents in a day. i guess they are the ones who made wholesale gas cost 2.57/gallon. if your friends gave those answers then they either don't know what was going on or they were just bs-ing you. if they were making us pay a 20+% premium before then they aren't really gouging us that bad now.
We have been trying to sell my deceased grandmother's house in Rome, GA and the realtor told us last night that gas prices in Atlanta were around 6 f*cking bucks. Unf*ckingbelievable....
C'mon, robbie380, what world do you live in? Examples were plenty from the past. It's only a matter of time before numerous reports on Katrina-related gas price gauging are starting to emerge, which I am sure you can easily google them out.
This is how the prices have changed at the gas station about a quarter of a mile from my apartment: Tuesday: $2.65/gal 87 octane. Wednesday Afternoon: $2.71 Wednesday Evening: $2.79 Thursday Afternoon: $2.99 I filled my tank up for $2.71 at about 5:30 PM yesterday and they were changing the price on the sign out front as I was pumping! Now, less than 24 hours later, they went up 20 more cents per gallon!
Tried to fill up before premium went over $3. I was a little too late. Thirty minutes ago I ended up paying $3.29/gallon Earlier in the day it was $2.89 =/
This isn’t the end of the world people.. the only thing I feel isn’t fair is the fact that the cost of living is going up in the last 5-7 years, but minimum wage hasn’t.. Those are the people that it's really hurting, to most of us we still spend money like nobodies business on CRAP and b**** about gas prices.. why?? Try putting yourself in the peoples shoes that drive a 20 year old car everyday to the other side of town to work just at a job that pays them a few dollars more than minimum wage.. Does the gas price suck?? sure, but if it's really that bad cut some of the fat off your living budget like buying that 4 dollar coffee everyday or renting/buy a new movie/CD every week and dont give me that "I DONT DONT THAT KINDA STUFF" we all spend money on crap we dont need... RANT OVER..
It's not the end of the world, but it's pretty disturbing that people are being gouged at the pump, and people are taking advantage of this situation to make a quick buck.
Not all of us go out and buy Starbucks everyday and have an extensive DVD collection. Maybe some of are ranting because we have to work at a crappy job to help make ends meet. I can't go out to eat four times a week and will be up to my eyeballs in debt once I'm finally finished with school. Nonetheless, I feel very fortunate to be in the position I am in. This is hard time for everybody, and raised gas prices, especially needless price gouging, only makes a bad situation worse. My biggest concerns are for the poor people stranded in New Orleans. Standing on a soapbox isn't helping. If you want to feel good about yourself, volunteer your time and effort for their cause.
Havent checked with my dad yet (he is a sr. op with Colonial)..but on the news earlier I heard them mention that the pipeline flow was up to about 60%...hoping to have it back up to 100 in the next day or so. Problem is...it isnt just stations in the NO area....ones in MIS also were effected. I just filled up today...midgrade...and it was 2.93/G I refuse to run regular nolead since I do drive a SS...but I certainly cant afford premium...no way. This sucks
