    Why would you be proud? :confused:

    What exactly have the Rockets accomplished under him to make you feel proud? :confused:

    the fact that i live in PHX and your average suns fan can name our GM before their own. On top of that he sits as the chairman for the MIT sports analytic conference. If you can name 10 current better GM's than Morey who have been provided with the same tools the Les has provided him i will rest my case.

    That's your contribution?................

    In other, less homo-erotic news - Morey hasn't pulled off the deal we have all hoped for. But you can't argue that he hasn't done well in the draft or that he hasn't come out on top of the majority of trades. But one of the measuring sticks of a GM is being able to pull off major moves and he has failed in this regard....but Les hasn't made it easy on him, refusing to allow the Rockets to bite the rebuild bullet. It's a shame because if he would have let it happen two years ago, when it was already becoming evident that things weren't looking up, we'd already possibly be back in contention.

    With all due respect, what you stated is meaningless if that is what it takes to be a good / great GM. Morey has not accomplished anything significantly while a GM with the Rockets. If you are the GM, you need to be polite but forceful with your owner as to the appropriate direction to take. By all appearances Morey has been a cowtow to Les.

    Finally, one can only use the Yao / McGrady excuse for so long until it starts sounding like a freaking borken clock.

    No one knows how Morey has approached Les about his mentality. Maybe Morey has run the "we need to lose before we get any better" idea past Les but he is just too stubborn to go ahead with that route. If Morey becomes even more forceful, he might lose his job. We don't know any of that. He is doing the best with what he has. I highly doubt any other GM could do a significantly better job that what Morey has done with this team. Not his fault stars don't want to come here. He built a championship contender already in 2009... too bad McGrady was hurt. That team had it all if everyone stayed healthy, it was 11 men deep with quality players at each position. Sucks that it didn't work out but can't fault him on effort, he's trying his hardest to get that star player we've been dying for but it takes 2 (sometimes 3) to tango.

    That game goes two ways.. Name 10 who are curretnly worse?
    Did you happen to ask him why....
    The Rockets haven't been to the playoffs the last 3 years?
    He fired a HOF coach and hired one with a losing track record
    Our best player hates this new coach and wants to be traded
    Our highest paid salary player sucks all of a sudden
    There's not one young future star on the team
    There's not a prospect of getting a future star on this team where they are sitting in this summer's draft
    Rockets games are half empty seats
    Houston has gone from a desirable place to play to a place where the FO pisses off players with an expiring contract
    Marcus Morris
    Try to answer these questions without using McGrady, Yao, Stern, Les Alexander as excuses.
    I'm still dumbfounded as to how this fan base blindly accepts reality. What I listed here are facts, not opinions, this is sad, but it's the reality. If he swings for the fences and misses (again) this summer, this dude is done.

    GM's that i can name that are worse than D.M
    Joe Dumars (DET),Geoff Petrie (SAC),Bryan Colangelo (TOR), Ernie Grunfield (WAS), Billy King (Brooklyn), Lon Babby (PHX), Bob Myers (GSW)

    Also can you ask your self:
    Rafer Alsto -> Kyle Lowry?
    1 Pick -> Goran Dragic?
    Thebust and Flynn ->Camby?
    Pickup of Chandler Parsons and the upcoming of Motiejunas
    The "Deal that Never Happened"
    And if you were to read interviews and listen to R.A Morey didn't fire him, it was Les that wanted him gone.
    Please place the Rockets into the Eastern Conference and we would have been in the playoffs every year. The west is just ridiculous with competition. The man has one goal and it is to make the Rockets a championship team. With the tools he has been given he has done quite a job. Yes the TMAC and Yao excuse gets old.

    So, risemeyer played your game and named worse GMs.

    Now it's your turn sourpuss, name 10 who are better than Morey. You won't, because you know you can't without people picking apart your 10.

    So, shut up or play the game that you asked risemeyer to play. btw: dude, this is a Cool Story Brah thread. chill out.

    You bring up some good points, but this isn't a charity. It's a results-based business. Rafer-Kyle, Brooks-Dragic, etc... While on the surface these seem like nice moves, but what is the end result? For every Chandler Parsons pick, there's a Marcus Morris pick. Motiejunas... You can watch all the footage and scouting reports that you want, but all you can crown him for right now is being an athletic 7'er. And it's sort of contradictory if you bring up Moti, when you use the Thebust and Flynn-Camby scenario. Wasn't the pick we acquired in the Thabeet deal, the one that helped us get Moti? What about Terrence Williams trade? In other words, all these calculated moves that have seemingly turned water into wine, what has the end result been?
    As far as RA goes, you're right, Morey didn't fire him. He actually conditionally offered him the job. But what do you think RA's response was when Morey said your future in Houston is contingent on firing one of your assistants and hiring this d-league guy? RA has forgotten more about basketball than Morey could ever fantasize about knowing. The hiring of McHale was Morey. I think he sucks as a coach and our best player hates him. Everything Daryl has done so far has been lateral. When you say, he's done the best with what he was given... Well let's see, no star, no young player who can develop into one, no free agent talking like Houston is where they want to play, and our best player and coach are clashing. So in theory, me, you, or Whitney Houston could have been the GM, and this franchise's position likely wouldn't be any worse than it is right now. If you want to crown him, that's fine.
