There is no doubt that when Rafer fails to shoot well,we sink to the bottom. He is a 2nd tier PG who has had his best year this season. He is not only injured but is getting older too. We need an upgrade at the 1 but that is going to be the most difficult position to upgrade.

Ramunas Siskauskas is how you spell BUST in Lithuania.

I'll pass on a 30 year old, non-athletic SG. Aren't we trying to get the opposite of that on this team?

Well, it's a rumor that the Rockets have interest. The report could be completely off the mark.

However the guy's stats suggest he is a good shooter and brings size to the 2/3. Currently the Rockets are undersized behind T-Mac with Herad there and as a team they're shooting the ball very poorly below league averages in both FG% and 3P%.

Scola might be from Argentina, but he did play in Euroleague, no?

Yes and you might want to check out where Tau Ceramica is on that globe.

I love the critique and criticism of a guy we have never seen. Scouts have, and if both SAS and Rox are interested then I am interested.

For future reference can we describe Internationals as those outside our North American border and not limit the moniker to Euros'? ;)

He speaks English and is highy articulate. He screams basketball IQ. And he's an established veteran type player, who obviously can shoot it, and he has won everywhere. It's obvious to me that he's a player, and while maybe not a superstar over here, could be a very solid rotation piece for a contender. He reminds me of Brent Barry. I'd like to bring him over. Call me stupid.

Despite finding European basketball barely watchable, I've seen the guy plenty of times. He's nothing special at all.

However the thing with European players is that you don't know how good will they be in the NBA. Jasikevicius and Macijauskas were two of the best European players at one time yet they sucked big time in the NBA. On the other hand players like Songaila and Calderon weren't the best players in Europe before they came to the NBA yet both, especially Jose, are pretty solid. The only player, I would have bet on being a total bust (and won) would be Darko. It's too much of a crapshoot, imo. I'll pass.

Darko did ok last year. Was injured this year. Jury is still out on him. Although I liked that rant he did about the ref's last year. That was funny but it should have gotten him a suspension.

Siskauskas, better known as the "Baltic Pippen" in the past. I guess some rocket fans wouldn't really like that.

Ok, what are you trying to prove here? Darko is terrible. He is a bust and will never justify being taken at no 2. He's not even lottery material and never was. As I said, Siskauskas is nothing to write home about. If we want to win the championship, he's not the answer. He doesn't have any particular skill that make him stand out in any way or give him an upper hand over the all around better American players. If the Rockets absolutely have to waste time on international players, they better be from Argentina or France.

If Morey and the rest of the Rox scouting team feel this guy is worth a look I am all for it.

There are no players aside from Rafer and McGrady that have legit full court ball handling ability.

For everyone knocking his lack of athletic ability; last I checked Scola is lacking in that dept as well and he seems to be doing ok so far.

Lastly he is a winner and can shoot. He is at least 3 inches taller than Luther head.

I like the fact that he is an impact player on a Championship team just like Scola.

A lot of people In this thread seem to be looking at everything he isnt while talking down everything he is capable of. Does anyone think that maybe he is much better than his short comings might indicate?

    Get it done Morey!! :D

But, but, I watched one youtube clip! :D
You're right, but it is fun in any case.

I'd be more hopeful of this 2 guard if Bellinelli (sp) had worked out for the Warriors this year. This seems to be an especially difficult international-NBA transition.

Big shooting 3's (peja) and smart agile 4's (scola, et alia) seem to do best in the transition from abroad.

    Take my word.

Siskauskas is insane. If team is 2 down, I'd rather give him half court shot than anyone taking jump shot.

If there would be any chance gettin him, GET HIM.

This thread pissed me off. What is with all your fascination for international players over there? Both fans and teams. If Darko was American, there is no way he would've been the second overall pick. Same goes for Bargnani, Bogut or any other top international picks. I particularly love the 8pts/4rbs guys that get drafted with the top picks. LOL.

Teams seriously reach when drafting non-Americans. If an international player gets drafted with a top pick, he's probably late lottery/late first round material. If one get's drafted in the middle of the first round, he should've been a second rounder or not drafted at all.

There was a time when international players where underrated. It took some late second rounders that pan out, then a Gasol and dirk and now every team tries to draft their own dirks and Gasols. I hope the Rockets do the right thing, draft an American.

Don't be pissed off, its just a another thread reporting something that the rockets are looking at. Also you forgot Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli and Luis Scola. Who cares if the player is an american or a foreigner, a baller is a baller.
