I didn't mention Steve in this thread until he got his character falsely bashed again. but thanks for thinking of me.
At half time he said, "Bob McNair, What are you doing? Do you not want Reggie Bush? Pull Carr, Johnson, and Davis for the rest of the season."
Forget Reggie Bush, if the Texans don't completely rebuild their offensive line during the draft and off-season, I will not attend or watch another game until they do. It was incredibly stupid for them to not fix the OL this last off season, to not do so again would be beyond r****ded. If I was Carr I would have a long talk with the powers that be on this one, because his career is at risk. He might not survive another year behind this group.
The Texans do have a 2nd and two 3rd round picks where they can address the o-line. Chester Pitts has showed the ability to play LT so that position is no longer a top priority. Other positions like RT, OG, and C can be upgraded in later rounds. There are going to be a ton of RT that will be available in the 2nd round like Jeremy Trueblood-Boston College, Andrew Whitworth-LSU, and possibly Marcus McNeil. I would also like to see them use one of their 3rd round picks on an OG. Just because the Texans select Bush with the #1 pick doesn't mean they can't improve the OL.
I agree, Pitts has done fairly well at LT....I just wished they would have never moved him from there. The whole Seth Wand experiment is what really set this OL back a few years. After watching D'brick get owned by Virginia Tech, I just don't think he is worthy of a top 5 pick. Take the best available player, and address the line with your other picks and possibly free agency. There were many people crying that we didn't take Alex Barron, the top offensive lineman in last years draft....but he has been a big dissapointment for the Rams. Hell, even the Texans were able to get constant pressure on the QB yesterday!
I'll be honest, the last couple of games may have swayed me towards taking Bush. Our OL has looked pretty damn decent. Add a couple of decent free agents or an early 2nd round draft pick and take Bush. Or, I'd even be in favor of trading down a couple of spots, getting more picks and taking a stud defensive player.
Did he really say this? Wow! That means that JJ has serious considerations of coaching the Texans! Woo hooo! Let's get us some Bush!!!!
You know what, you make sense. As long as they do it, I'm O.K. But just think of the number of Heisman winners that never made it in the NFL. Bush is apparently a superman kind of player. Who knows, but the Texans can't afford to make too many more mistakes.
I understand JJ had success at Dallas but that was a unique situation with the Walker trade. he got to build that team ground up like a college team with unlimited scholarships. when he had to coach a team already in place on the fly in Miami he didn't do so well. I have my reservations about him.
