Difference is that on the left the idiots with those signs are not being encouraged by others. The Tea Party folks are being encouraged to make those comparisons from folks like Glenn Beck and even some Tea Party candidates make those kinds of remarks.

Also, the left doesn't defend their idiots nearly as much as you and the right defends there's. I think it's that combination of right-wiing media encouraging people to denigrate the left and the candidates themselves being unreasonable/insane.

But here at this very rally you have Stewart calling on people not to demonize the right.

That to me is the epitome of what makes us different.

High school- if you honestly believe most people at the rally were in high school, then yes, you're ignorant. If you were using this as a general putdown by implying his audience is at the high school level, well, then you're not ignorant, just condescending. And if you're honestly telling me that you thought "you" meant you specifically as opposed to my use of it as an indefinite pronoun, well then I'm sorry, I can't help you.

Exactly- Stewart specifically said you shouldn't call the Tea Party racist as opposed to those who truly are- and specifically mentioned Juan Williams and Mark Sanchez. Could you see Glenn Beck saying something positive about...Jon Stewart or ...God forbid... any liberal at all? Please.

When has Glen Beck said Obama or a Democrat is like Hitler?

I see nothing in their that says Obama is like Hitler. I see him arguing that the Republicans are not like Hitler (thus defending Republicans/Conservatism/Libertarianism).

I mean, that's just Beck. There's plenty of others that compare Obama / Nazis or Hitler or some other ruthless dictator.

So in your neck of the wood, people from 49 and younger are in high school?
I don't wonder this at all.

Well, to be fair, he didn't outright compare Obama to Hitler. But, clearly, he was trying to connect Obama to the Nazi party. More than that, he's just an idiot. If he honestly thinks that calling himself a citizen of the world made Obama less of a presidential candidate, then I really do have a fencepost with a higher IQ than him.

    1. Jody I. graduated from college in 2003.
    2. Pennye E. has a kid in high school.
    3. Dustin C. graduated from college in 2007.
    4. Kenny C. has been married for 10 years.
    5. David P. graduated from college in 1992.
    6. Judy P. graduated from high school in 1977.
    7. Viki R.'s favorite musical artists are Barbra Streisand and Billie Holliday.
    8. Leo B. just graduated from high school.
    9. Matthew B. graduated from high school in 1999.
    10. I graduated from high school in 1985.
    11. Nicholas B. just graduated from high school.
    12. Josh J. graduated from high school in 2001.
    13. Valerie M. is a senior citizen.
    14. Sylvia K. is at least in her 40s, if not early 50s.
    15. Peggy H. is a "middle-aged woman with 2 kids and 1 grandkid."
    16. Matthew H. looks like he's in high school.
    17. Oti V. had no information- but based on his friend's pictures, they're all in their 30s or 40s, so I'm assuming he's not in high school.
    18. Jennifer M. graduated from college in 1995.
    19. Vincent F. appears at least early 30s.
    20. Ryan S. graduated in 2000.

So, these were the 1st 20 people on the "Attending" list for the Rally to Restore Sanity, according to Facebook. So, out of this list of 20, 3 just graduated from high school. That means that, out of the 150,000 that were estimated to have attended this event, you can guess that approximately 22,500 were high schoolers, or 15%.

So, you're saying that 15% of Stewart/Colbert's audience is the same as saying or implying "most." Right?

Tallanvor, you're wrong about Beck not comparing Obama to Hitler. And Joe Scarborough's show is full of conservatives...MSNBC's morning talk show is completely opposite of their night talk shows in terms of political slant.

Oh, please, give me a friggin break- you've got absolutely nothing to prove that the majority of his viewers or Rally attenders are in high school, and I at least present something that is measurable- what do you want me to do, go through 200,000 names on Facebook? Face it, your statement was wrong, and if you still don't believe that, then I go back to my original contention that you're ignorant.

You forgot to respond to my post. I guess that's an admission that Glen Beck / conservatives are indeed responsible for creating this toxic political environment.

Also, statistically, his measure actually does hold up and proves your wrong with a 95% confidence. A lot more than you can say about the information supporting your view.

Ahh, the old accuse-something-baseless-then-ask-for-evidence-on-the-contrary tactic. Did you hear about Glenn Beck raping and murdering a girl in 1990? He has not responded to the allegation or proven otherwise, so it must be true... right?

It truely was. I really hope we can build on this discourse and begin a healing process of mutual respect.

I doubt that'll happen but I can't control that. I for one, however, will make a concerted effort to not buy into any more over dramatized hype. What I see now rather clearly is that most of the time the people telling us how scared we should be have a vested interest in it. It's simply mind control for $.

    Sex sells. Fear sells.

Being reasonable is how we are ALL raised. Yawn.
