We could, but as I mentioned, her being late is not unusual, and we have already had a few false alarms. Pregnancy tests aren't exactly cheap, so we decided in order to save money to give it longer before we break out the tests next time.
I did tons of research on which brand of pregnancy test is the best, and First Response is tops. Last March when we thought that my wife was pregnant, I picked up a two-pack at Walgreens for about $12. We also bought a two-pack of generic pregnancy tests and a two-pack of a different brand (can't remember which). First response was the only one that was a positive both times. I did some further research, and apparently the hormone that signals pregnancy reacts with gold, which is what pregnancy tests use. First response detected the lightest amount of the hormone (earlier in the pregnancy). I also found out that there is no such thing as a false positive. If it says positive, even a very light line, she's pregnant, no doubt about it. It means that the hormone is reacting with the gold, even on a very small scale. There are false negatives, but never false positives. Hope that helps.
