PABLO DIABLO! I guess people don't stop to think that although Diablo is not a prolific scorer, having zero turnovers equates to preventing maybe 10 points away from the other team. 5 turnovers can lead to 10 or more easy points for your opponent. That can be the difference in a close game. (and we've had PG's like that haven't we?) Why don't we celebrate some great ball handling and passing regardless of his age? Nice game Pablo!
Fact is: given his skill set and top end, because you didn't spend a lot of time noticing him means he did his job exactly as needed. A turn over free vet who knows how to set up the team to run what is supposed to happen, especially at crunch time. This is the test of his worth. He came up 24carat.
This isn't really accurate. The Rockets averaged 14.7 TO with Pablo on the bench, and 14 with him on the court. He has a very small effect on the team's overall turnovers.
he doesn't turn the ball over and he's houston's best ball handler at the pg position. he can handle the pressure in the backcourt if defenses play tight
Still can't believe some of our own fans were b****ing so hard about losing Canaan. It was like if we had lost a player with the skills of Dragic or Lowry or something. Christ man... he was a D-Leaguer and 3rd string PG!
i'm not a hard core Pablo fan. Just trying to look for positives instead of the other way around. Diablo had 0 TO's (as opposed to what we might have seen from Jeremy Lin) and also had a BIG steal in the closing minutes of game 5. Give the man his dues. At least for ONE game
I notice OP includes a photo of Pablo with Chinese lettering. Is this some kind of Lin reference??? Pablo Prigioni is no Jeremy Lin.
+1. not much of a fan of him either. i don't know what people here are expecting of him. he's not going to come in and score. he's there to spell minutes at the pg position, not turn the ball over, and handle the ball for periods of time. i guess one would hope he could hit a 3 or two more consistently but other than that, hes doing what hes supposed to do. and in playoffs not get rattled.
He will not only not lose you the game, he actually is a positive. Solid, solid player with no risk involved.
Don't recall Houston getting blown out by the opponent without their best guy last year. Pablo did not raise up enough. Neither did the rest of the team.
He needs to get more burn. He's the closest thing we have to a stabilizer with the ball in his hands.
Bumping because I think this is a worthy discussion getting swallowed up by all of the "end of the world" and "we're doomed" nonsense posts.
Since this thread was a transparent trollmaster's "case study" of the board, with obvious NON-intention of actual serious discussion a lot of thread credibility was sucked away That said, if current Rockets guards couldnt stop JJ BAREA from looking like Chris Paul, what about when the ACTUAL Chris Paul comes back? What is Prigi Pablo gonna do about that? He is a steady hand. Though is steady enough to raise level of team play, enough to offset Chris Paul's return
