The Raiders will dump Javon Walker and he'll go off for about 1400 yards and 15 TDs for whatever team grabs him next year.
Hall is horrible and I'd stay away if I were the Texans. Huff still has a chance to be a good player, I'd like to give him a shot if he's released.
Hall is awful. He has gotten burned 40 times out of 66 passes defended for over 550 yards. I'll pass on this one.
And a lot of those are because Michael Huff can't get over to help at all. I think Huff is done right now. It would take a miracle for him to get back into a starting lineup at this point.
If Hall showed any sign of not being a douche anymore he'd be more hope for us than signing a 4th string corner from Dallas.
Huff is only in his 3rd year playing for the most dysfunctional franchise in sports. No way he is done right now.
Exactly right. I'm convinced he can play. But everybody is going to look bad playing for a dysfunctional franchise. What about the D-line not getting pressure? Huff was too good coming out of Texas. We'd probably have a decent shot at him because of that. I would think it could be a low risk contract too. Can't imagine anybody else giving him much money at this point being unproven. And can't imagine him being worse than our current crop of safeties. Not much risk to bring him in for a look.
It's completely opposite. Hall is a good player. He certainly has attitude problems, but this could easily turn into a Moss like bargain for some team (I know Moss is much better I'm just comparing the exact situations). Huff is terrible. No potential whatsoever. He's been moved all over the field and he can't make a play or a tackle. He's a bust. It happens
I'd take a Hall-Bennet corner duo and slide Dunta to safety while he get back up to speed. Pair him with Huff at the other safety spot and that'd be a nice upgrade. Just getting tired of Faggins/Reeves making guys like Gus Ferrotte look like Tom Brady.
I don't know how much more clear I have to be when I tell you Michael Huff ****ing Sucks Goat Balls. Eugene Wilson at this point is a better player. Huff can't make a tackle, he can't cover anybody, and he can't hold onto a single interception should a ball come flying out of somewhere and land right in his lap. Either you are a Longhorn Homer who thinks any Longhorn has divine right to succeed in life or you are just a blind judge of football talent. How many Raiders games have you even watched? And don't give me this "Well he sucks because he's a Raider" crap. Moss still had a 1000 yard season here, and the last year he was there he had QBs who were getting sacked 7 times a game who couldn't come close to getting him the ball. I thought he might have lost a step, but I never thought he was "done." I tried to tell you guys Phillip Buchanon sucked too. I don't know how Gruden is getting any production out of him now. Thats a miracle in itself. Hall's got plenty left in the tank, I feel bad for the guy... he's gonna thank god he got out of here though. Huff though is a suckmonger.
So just because I don't think a 3rd year guy who was a Thorpe winner and a Top 10 pick is "done," I'm a homer? But a guy like Hall who has been a HUGE liability at CB for years now, and has had his share of attitude problems, has plenty left in the tank? Sounds like you feel bad for Hall because he's stuck as a Raider but Huff is just a complete bust regardless of his situation. Also not sure how you're Buchanon example helps you, ya he sucked as a Texan but like you said, he's been productive at TB. Kinda seems like a change of scenario/scheme helped him out, are you saying the same can't be said for a guy like Huff?
Fire Richard Smith and John Hoke and then lets see where we are at. I think they are part of the problem we have guys come in who aren't considered bad talents and get here and look clueless. They need to be under some heat for the play of our defense.
Even though this isn't directed at me I want to ask a question. What has Huff shown in the NFL that would lead you to believe he can be an even average player? He can't tackle, he can't cover, and he has been consitantly out of position. I don't know if you're defending him because you're a Texas fan or not (I'm not familiar with your history), but it's the only possible reason you could see potential in him IMO. He's worse then Robert Gallery (another horrible raiders pick). Hall is a primma donna ,but he has talent. He's a Pro Bowl player and he isn't old. He's also better then anything we have in our secondary currently (depending on how Dunta recovers). That's a simple fact. Should we throw the bank at him.....absolutely not. However, if his asking price is reasonable, then you give him a look. I promise if the Raiders cut Huff there wouldn't be 1/1000th of the interest there is in Hall.
Exactly. Huff has shown nothing. Zilch. I've watched him fail all over the field for 20+ games. He was supposed to be better at FS, which is why they brought in Gibril Wilson. Huff got benched after the 3rd game of the season because he didn't record a single tackle or pass defended. To play the whole game at FS and not record a single statistic is inexcusable. Busts happen, look at almost every 1st round pick the Raiders have made over the past 20 years as a prime example. And of course he's a bigger bust than Gallery. Gallery is actually a pretty decent guard, He won't be the anchor LT he was supposed to be, which makes him not even close to being a #2 overall pick... but at least he's starting in the NFL. Mike Huff in 2 years has proved 1 thing. He sucks.
All I'm saying is that calling a guy, who was the best DB coming out of college football and the #7 overall pick in a good draft, "done" is premature. Especially considering the facts that he plays for the worst franchise in the NFL. I'm not saying he is playing well, but the guy is only in his 3rd year. Like y'all have said, the Raiders have made a lot of bad picks. But do you blame that more on the player's lack of talent or the fact that y'all have had 5 head coaches in the past 7 years? Busts do happen, but when almost every pick the Raiders have made the past 5 seasons seem to be busts, you have to wonder how much it has to do with the actual player vs. the circumstances of the franchise. And Gallery is actually a good example of a guy who was labeled a "bust" early in his career and has actually made a nice turnaround. I really do understand where y'all are coming from, Huff has been pretty bad so far in his career, but I'm just not ready to say he's "done." That's all.
