I can't speak for all jews... but this guy appears to have the disposition and style to be chief of staff. I personally don't care that he's jewish, but it does silence those who thought Obama was going to be BAD to Israel.

I sincerely doubt it. I know I don't. Don't see why it would be. Emanuel is a close friend of Obama's and a person perfectly suited for this role.

And did you notice that after they spend weeks calling Obama a Marxist and a socialist, now the reason he won is because he is a conservative Democrat? Seriously wingers... and I'm looking at you Karl Rove... this is why you lost... no ideas about what you want to do for America and only a message about why the other guy is bad for America. Grow up.

a few paragraphs from your own article...

According to a complaint later filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Freddie Mac, known formally as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, misreported profits by billions of dollars in order to deceive investors between the years 2000 and 2002.

Emanuel was not named in the SEC complaint but the entire board was later accused by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) (click here to read) of having "failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention."

In a statement to ABCNews.com, a spokesperson said Emanuel served on the board for "13 months-a relatively short period of time."

The spokesperson said that while on the board, Emanuel "believed that Freddie Mac needed to address concerns raised by Congressional critics."

Emanuel was named to the Freddie Mac board by President Bill Clinton in 2000 and resigned his position when he ran for Congress in May, 2001.

Good choice. Pro-business moderate democrat. His pitbull attitude balances out Obama's cool demeanor and will be able to get his policies passed.

It's much better than McCain and his judgement of people.

    Sarah Palin(VP)
    Meg Whitman(Treasury Secretary)
    Current and former Bush cronies
Infighting campaign aids airing grievances to the media.
    Chief of staff????? :(

IMO, the selection of Rahm Emanuel basically refutes the idea that Obama is going to govern from a far-left perspective. Liberals don't like the guy for good reason. If Obama ends up choosing Larry Summers for Treasury Secretary (which I don't think he will), that puts the nail in the coffin and makes the people who called him a "socialist" look like complete idiots. The fact Summers is getting serious consideration is enough for me.

Yes, but not surprising as most on here would rather live in ignorant bliss than believe their beloved messiah could possibly make a wrong decision.

His decision to hire Emaunel has nothing to do with a stupid comment by Emanuel's father.

Here's a video of Obama speaking at a roast for Rahm Emanuel. Pretty funny segment at about the 5 minute mark. Also it's striking how much younger Obama looks in this clip. I think it's from about 3 years ago.

Man, I take a nap and all of a sudden Robert Downey Jr. is our Chief of Staff. Just a few years from being an addict, talk about a rebound!

It's an idiotic comment. Thankfully, his father isn't going to the White House.

LOL ... is Bush named in any law suit in the current economic crisis?

A 13-month tenure could be considered brief and a "mitigating factor" if the indictment were brought, but then again he didn't intervene when the bubble was inflating and the books were cooking. "Believed" is not an action, for crying out loud.
