Rafer did got into it somewhat with Artest during last game or was it the game before that. I don't think is a big deal.
Miami is his home, he has a house there, doesn't he? He was intending to cheer up his fans who still hold their love for him even though he hasn't played for the heat for many years. But his behavious went againest his intentions, his efforts paied off oppositely and negatively.
I've noticed this, too, and I'm wondering what's going on. It doesn't really come off to me as "passion" or "heart" or whatever to me, either. It looks like he's just pouty, and throwing unnecessary temper tantrums. I mean he's not looking all that fired up and angry. He just looks like he's PMSing and whining for some mysterious reason.
As long as he keeps hitting those threes in the end of games, I wont complain. The Rockets need more of that fire. They are all emotionless sometimes.
He may be pissed that the backup PG is now getting 22 mpg and shooting... 46% from the field... 42% behind the arc and... 90% from the line while averaging... 11 ppg in 22 mpg compared to his own 10 ppg in 31 mpg. As much is it helps the team, it must smack Alston's ego a little bit each time Brooks drills a 3 or breaks down the defense and finishes in the paint. If Brooks starts racking up assists in limited minutes, something that is bound to happen sooner or later, Alston may feel even more threatened. Brooks is only averaging 2 apg right now and most people think he is a mini SG that can't pass but I've seen him set up guys like Landry and Barry a number of times with wide open shots that they've missed. I can see Brooks putting up 4 or 5 assists in limited minutes as he continues to develop and his teammates get used to his faster, more aggressive style of play. Haven't you noticed Alston trying to be more assertive on the offensive end the last couple of games? The result against the Heat was 4 TOs and 4 BAs. Maybe one of the reasons Alston has such low TOs is that he rarely attacks the defense. Brooks turns the ball over more (esp. last night, he was awful in that regard) but so do most aggressive perimeter players around the league. Brooks has improved in every facet of his game this season and still has plenty of room for growth. Alston may just be feeling that heat. Edit: Of course, it could be something totally different. I'm just throwing this idea out there. Until Brooks proves he can play defense, I don't think Alston has anything to worry about.
aye rafer got big heart! always make big 3 in clutch time! but he still sux as a shooter, i like his attitude though.
Rafer has always had an attitude. You can see when Rick gets upset with him about how he reacts in the game. You can see it clearly last night. When he got his shot blocked, he got real pissed off.
he's just a very passionate player. but i still cringe whenever he takes a shot. i was pissed with him during the Wizards game when we had a fast break and he decides to pull up for a 3....im like WTF!!! he missed it badly. but he managed to get back on my good books when he knocked down th dagger 3 at the end of the game. i think he's still not at the top of his game, didnt he have some kind of surgery as well? but i think this season they should reduce his minutes and play Brooks more.
It's called passion! He's from the playgrounds of N.Y., that's how he is. I just wish he'd shoot alittle bit better.
You're right and I agree...Brooks has been cutting into his time and causing him to be benched if he doesn't play well. Good lookin' out...
