Does it even say something about a knife anywhere? Could it be that the guy just got scratched by someone with long fingernails in the scuffle and somewhere along the line this became "slashed"?
Where did you see that the "slashed" victim has eye witnesses? The only witnesses that are reported to have seen the incident says eveything happen different from what the "slashed" victim claims. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2994735 The man who said he was injured told police the incident occurred at about 3 a.m. Monday after he and Alston accidentally bumped each other inside Club Stereo. During an ensuing argument, the man said, Alston slashed his neck. The 41-year-old went to a hospital to be treated for a minor neck injury, then filed a complaint at a police precinct. Defense attorney Alberto Ebanks said bouncers and other witnesses told him the man didn't appear to be injured when he left the club and never bothered alerting police officers who were in the area. This doesn't sound strange to you?
Whether or not Rafer did slash the guy is not relevant to us as Rockets fans. The fact that he is in trouble AGAIN is.
i dont blame him. the whole story sounds shoddy, I dont buy it. Eyewitnesses said the guy seemed fine when he was leaving the club and was in no rush to tell police officers on the scene, but rather went to file a report after he got his 'injuries' treated. thats just weak. I think rafer is innocent, and is just trying to be set up because hes rich and famous. and besides, isnt it innocent until proven guilty?
The only solid info on this are: 1. He went to some Chelsea night club. 2. One of his friends got in a dispute with some guy. 3. There was a brawl. Is any part of this his fault? We'll see... We don't even know how the dispute started and what it was all about. That's what the investigation is for. But people are indeed squawking like hens.
Yes & no...he's putting himself in situations that can only end badly. He has too much to lose if he gets arrested. I will grant that this particular story is sounding more and more like a money grab by the "victim". It's just a bit disconcerting that he has found himself in this kind of situation twice in the past few weeks.
I agree with you, but there are people here that don't believe that there are men and women out there in the world who make false claims of assault to extort money from rich/famous people. That doesn't happen often And every black athlete that gets arrested isn't a thug.....now I'm upset about the bad press and think it doesn't help the Rockets image at all, but things happen in life. It's easy for people to judge and say things like he should not be club'n, but famous athletes can't live their lives the way critics see fit. If you're in a shady place in the wee morning hours, bad things can happen to high profile individuals. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time doesn't make you a thug or criminal.
maybe he shouldnt go out at all but then again, we are only hearing about this because, presumably, a guy is making it all up. If thats true this guy is a jerk to begin with and you cant always hide from jerks who want to start something. BUt basically, rafer is getting ridiculed because someone else is a liar and a jerk...hardly seems fair. Of course the parking attendent thing is making this seem worse, but what has come of that case? not much. this isnt an incident. its a guy making up crap (assuming)...you cant stop that
I 've seen Rafer out on the town a few times, a couple of times with his entourage and once with Luther and Chuck. They guy seems to keep it pretty low key, most of the people who were'nt Rockets fans hardly even looked in his direction. While that's not proof positive of anything, I just find it hard to believe that he would be acting the fool like that simply because its the offseason and he's NY with his old homies. With everything going on surrounding Vick and Jones I would think that athletes are aware of whats at stake when they go out. But I think its pretty unfair to say that they shouldn't go out and enjoy themselves just cuz other people are gonna start trouble.
This is a guy possibly making up that he got stabbed. No one is saying that Rafer and/or his posse wasn't involved in a brawl.
hardly sounds like a brawl from what i've hear. Sounded like a typical late night push and shove, but there are witnesses that are saying rafer wasnt even involved, but rather his friend. Now you can say "watch who you hang out with" but again, if someone is intent on starting something no one can stop it. Actually it appears to have been handled relatively well because the incident didnt seem to escalate too much (from some of the articles)...other than the guys seemingly bogus claim.
