Amel, I am telling you, JVG hates white people. Ever since Ryan Bowen burned JVG with his poor play, he has sworn off all white people. 1)JVG waives Bowen and Haryasz, during camp, and the 2 other white players get no play time. 2)Novak won't ever get as much time as Hayes or Howard. 3)Spanoulis won't take a minute away from JLIII and Alston. *smile*
lol this is my last comment to you guys guy like shakeyoulegswhatever, he will be here till Yao leaves Houston, he came here because of Yao, he would never ever have been here if it wasn't for Yao look at the stats right now, since Yao got the injury, this forum has cooled off a bit...I am here to support the Houston Rockets....and not one individual...yes I have my favs like anyone else, maybe I express my love for them in a diff way or a bit more emotional, but at the end I am still a rocket fan and btw, the tipjar is still waiting for you guys
Wow. Well I was way off. I thought for sure you were a VSOF. Either way, I've been a Rockets fan for much longer than you. So I guess we both underestimated each other.
ah I don't care, just give us the numbers, if we had 10 midgets (no hate) on the floor, I still want results
Who do you think broke Bob Sura's knees this season after he was fully recovered? *smile* That's right, JVG!
Yes, his shooting has been poor, but saying his assists are down is wrong. Vs. Bulls - 7 Ast./4 TO Vs. T-Wolves- 3/2 Vs. Jazz - 8/1 Vs. Sonics - 3/2 Vs. Griz - 6/2 Last 5 overall - 27/11 Season (per game) - 5.0/2.29 That's really good, considering that Rafer usually dumps it off to TMac, who initiates the offense. The truth is, Rafer rarely gets assist opportunities unless he gets the ball later in the offensive play. He does, however, have plenty of opportunities to turn the ball over as he brings the ball up the court quite a bit. I don't quite understand where you get this from. Do you have any reason to say these things, or are you just blinded by your bias against Rafer? Did you know that your boy Mike James is 6-2, just like Rafer? V-Span is listed at 6-4 (pretty generous if you ask me), and most PGs that I looked up are right around Rafer's height. Did you look any up? And about the defense thing, I think it's been well established that Rafer's defense is not as porous as people have said. He is a solid on-the-ball defender who has some problems with the pick and roll. Not to mention, he's 14th in the league in steals. This is where you really lose it. This is not a fact. This is an opinion. Not a particularly good one either. Do I need to be the bajillionth person to point out that Mike James hasn't exactly had an all-star season this year? Ever heard of Charles Barkley? And I haven't been on these boards for very long, but I would guess that you were one of the posters who derided the Battier trade. Am I wrong? So do I! Still, I don't think you have privledged access to JVG's mind, so this doesn't qualify as a fact either. Opinion. V-Span did not prove himself as a good defender in his time on the court. Poor team defense, from what I remember. Another opinion. Not a well-founded one either. Thank god! How is this a fact? No. No. All coaches minimize risk. All coaches seek consistancy. What's your point? Actually, you're the one getting worked up over nothing, calling for JVG and Rafer's heads! You always end your posts with something like, "these are all opinions anyways," even though you are the one making all these assertions and labeling them as facts. Maybe you should contribute by saving bandwidth and posting less. Or at least leave the bs out.
sorry bud, it's been so long.... I'll make it short...it might be laughable, but thats really what happened... I was in 6th grade or so, and someone in my class gave a me bunch of stickers to choose one....I liked the rockets logo, so I picked it...I was interested in more, so I started watching one of the German major sport Tv stations called "DSF" ....they had few games every now and then, but I still remember Clyde, Horry, Dream, Kenny the jet, later on Maloney, Bullard, Willis, Barkley, Rhodes, Francis and so on...
I am talking about this year...not just a couple of games. Not at all true, teams force the ball into Rafers hand because they know he is the weakest link and he drives to the hole or shoots the 3pter....he has a choice to pass, and get an assist, he CHOOSES to shoot...poorly. Rafer is about 170 pounds and gets pushed around by other PGs on most nights......he is undersized.....V-Span is a bigger player. Rafer is quite good at steals, I will give you that, he anticipates well and slaps the ball out of opponents hands quite often, that being said, he gets USED and abused on defense, especially on the block....just look at JVG having to put Battier on Ben Gordon just the last game. Ironically, I think Mike James would be better in Houston, and Rafer would be better in Minnesota.....both of them are playing on teams that do not fit their particular style. I was one of the few who thought it was a great move. You are wrong...again ! What? You don't remember JVG saying that V-Span was outstanding, especially in the Washington game against Gilbert Arenas? As I have said numrous times, some coaches still have their eyes on what is for the good of the team now and in the future....For instance Popovich playing a 19 year old Tony Parker or a 25 year old Manu Ginobli their rookie years because he knew that they needed court time to adjust to the NBA...yes they would make mistakes, but Pop knew in the long run that the Spurs would be better with these 2 players....JVG....well...not so much. I have never liked JVG, I don't think he is a championship coach...I think his demeanor effects his team, and I think that he is slow to adapt in game situations, witness the Dallas series a couple of years ago...Avery went small...and JVG and Houston did nothing to counter it..... Or maybe you should just realize that we have a difference of opinion about how to develop players, and that there is no actual right or wrong......I am sure you think you are right, and I sure think I am right so...... What was your point again? DD PS. Before you get into length of service as a Rocket fan, I have been follwing them since they played in Hofeinz Pavilion, started following them in 1972....
Hi, this post has nothing to do with Rafer's performance on the Rockets, but here's a link I found yesterday that has a lot of interesting info about his career outside the NBA which has been quite remarkable. Do check it out - a totally different perspective on Rafer and his game. http://www.freebasketball.netfirms.com/skip00.html
Contradiction anyone? Who do you want then, Rick Adelman? So it's JVG's fault that we lost to the Mavs? It had nothing to do with the fact that they were far superior to us in talent, size, and athleticism? On paper, they should've swept us. The fact that we took them to 7 games shows that we played better as a team than them. Eventually, their natural skills overwhelmed us. And btw, if Juwan was playing, we'd beat them. We'd beat the Suns too IMO. So if we make it to the WCF, what would've been your opinion of JVG then? Actually unlike you, I don't have my own original opinion. My opinion is I have faith that JVG will use the players that give us the best chance to win. JVG's opinion is my opinion. If he says Rafer should start, then I say Rafer should start. I will quote someone else that responded to one of your opinions. There was also someone else that said something similar in the "Why are we bashing Rafer" thread, but I can't find that thread anymore. The point is, that is why I will take JVG's opinion over your's. He and the rest of the coaching staff see so many things that you don't. Considering that I was born 14 years after you became a Rockets fan, you better be smarter than me.
This list is pretty amusing... as this list of "facts" include quite a few opinions... in fact, every one of these statements (except for the 1st, which is also an opinion as the adverb "terribly" is not really quantifiable) is either an opinion or conjecture on a third party's feelings....
I'm just glad he hit some shots tonight. It's not even close to enough to win back some of the fans here, but I hope it's the beginning of that. Even the teardrop went in tonight, Luther dunks...TWICE, Juwan leads the team in scoring with TMac on the floor. What is going on?? hehehe
I know that is what made it fun to write. By the way, Rafer played OUTSTANDING tonight, maybe he can go on a hot streak to make up for playing so badly the last 6 weeks. DD
DD, Alston took another 19 shots tonight. Yes, he shot better than usual, and I loved watching the game. Just awesome. The fact remains that Rafer shoots too damn much.
Eh, he played well but I just saw that he was 8-19....I guess that is as good as we can expect.... DD
Give Rafer his props for a good game, but it's funny when you look up and see he's 8-19 and you think the man is "en fuego". It really hammers home how bad he's been lately. 19 shots and 9 threes ... I think we're in trouble down the road with Rafer playing heavy minutes, but I mean what else can you say? We just keep winning, winning, winning. Tonight it was T-Mac way off, and the team just finds a way to win. Almost crazy. I believe the team needs another point guard that, at a minimum, JVG will trust to play heavy minutes behind Rafer when he goes Rafer on us -- not sure Lucas III has earned that trust from JVG yet (though that 9-0 run the Rockets went on when he replaced Rafer, who was 2-8 at the time, was nice).
Props to Rafer tonight. But he better well be consistently shooting at this % every freakin night. And what is up with people who think that scoring points is not one of Rafer's key roles??? I don't get it. On a team with TMac and Yao, the ball is coming to you because they're going to get doubled. When it does you better make your shot to punish the other team.
I got to see DSF as well. they showed some highlight material of the dream and of the back to back championship seasons
