JVG was too rigid, that is why he is not a championship coach.

Good coaches recognize the skills AND limitations of their own players and put those players in situations they can succeed for the good of the team.

For isntance, you don't ask Andre Miller or Tony Parker to stand at the 3pt line and shoot jumpers.....

You work to their strength in the midrange game....

JVG did not do that, he wanted his players to play his system...V-Span was a square peg in a round hole.

Now Adelman on the other hand loves players that move without the ball and pass to cutters and make hard cuts.....that is V-Span's strength....I think he would have thrived under a coach like Adelman.

And, I don't mind Billy whining his way out of a bad situation, it is his career, and it only lasts so long, he should do whatever he feels is right for his career.

Personally, I would love to have him back on the Rockets.......

I have been loosely following Steve Blake since's his college years because he's a terp, he hasnt changed his game much, maybe shooting improves a little bit. he always has that solid dribbling, great vision, but like to make very risky passes. cant say he suits us better than Rafor.

on the flip side I just cant see what ppl see in Brooks, fans here are so high on him I just couldnt understand.... he's fast....that's about it.

We would be much better off if you and your crappy team support would leave.

if rafer struggles to end the season, i REALLY hope rafer would play around 20-25 mins in the playoffs. give the other 20 mins to bobby jackson. and 8-10 mins to brooks. all these 3 guys bring a little piece of another element to the game that can confuse teams.

when rafer struggles and you bring in brooks, it's a huge change of pace. no team can prepare for his quickness, esp. if he's aggressive off of tmac's double teams. bobby is just a big shot maker, which rafer is not. hopefully bobby will play more in the 4th.

hopefully luther can also regain his clutchness in this playoffs. we REALLY need it luther. where did it go?

Rafer was in a really bad stretch so maybe the games off will do him some good.

I strongly agree that Adelman would do a much better job developing VSpan that JVG did. In fact, JVG so terribly mishandled the situation, he almost destroyed the kid. I remember a speech professor that rang a bell every time a speaker said, "uh." He "dinged" one poor girl right off the stage. VSpan was so worried about doing well for JVG he couldn't stop making turnovers.

I am not sure about the time off, but he does seem to respond very well to competition.

He has to have seen how well AB and BJax have played in his absence....another good mark for the Bonzi trade, BTW.

And I expect him to come back strong to protect his turf (starting job).

    At least I hope so.

Clutch, did you hear anything more about his Hammy versus his knee like you discussed on the Sunday mornign program?

I think I (and most clutchfans) dislike Rafer more than people outside of houston, which probably means we should trade him. The only problem is that he provides elite level defense on PGs which we definately need for the playoffs. I can deal with his slumps if he doesn't go AI on us and try to shoot his way out of it. Penetrate and kick out.

Nah. Rafer wasnt in a bad stretch. That's just Rafer - a career 38% shooter. At the end of day, the law of average always holds true.
