Time to GET Shaun Livingston... I think he would be a good project along with AB. He has size talent, can create his own shot. Would be nice to keep him on the roster. Don't know how though. But would be nice.
He can't play this season. Right now we have to sort out the Landry and Deke situations. We won't be using our cap space on anyone else until those situations are taken care of. Also, Livingston's shot was brutal. He hasd improved since all he could do for a while was shoot but it still leaves a lot to be desired. He made Alston look like Michael Redd
Don't just go by stats. Livingston shooting was horrific but he showed great improvement over the course of the summer of 06. In fact disregarding the beginning of 06/07 he was shooting high 30's behind the arc. He definitely has shown he can improve. Whereas Alston has only shown below average consistency. If Livingston is healed enough to play (big IF) taking a risk on him is a not a bad bet bet. Especially if you can get him for close to the minimum. Still I would rather have pargo but at least lets not exxagerate Livingston's shooting. A healthy Livingston for the minimum would be a steal.
healthy is the key word no one knows what sort of condition he is basketball wise. it looks like he hasnt put on any upper body strength which i had expected him to do at least since he wouldnt be able to work his lower body out too much. (i see him now and then at the century city mall down the street)i dont know if he will ever see the court again in the NBA in the near future if the clippers released him then who knows what his condition is really like. Which is a shame because I was a big fan of his before the injury. He was improving his shot (but still pretty bad) but he did have great handles and court vision. he probably will not see the court till the 09-10 season if anything i would guess if no other team picked up him yet. but back to rafer driving drunk....it sucks obviously he shouldnt do that considering that he has the resources to hire a cab (heck a limo) to drive himself home from wherever he was. but i think a lot of us have driven home at times when we probably shouldnt have. but i think rafer is a good enough professional to not let this effect him from coming into camp in good-great shape like last year
You are backpeddaling big time. You were clearly attempting to minimalize the crime of driving drunk. 15,000+ people die in the US each year due to someone like Rafer risking their lives with driving drunk. I don't see how it's possible to minimize that. Just sad.
We are a year away from knowing if he can even play. I've seen plenty of Shaun. I said his jumper improved but even he's said he is going to be limited in some areas. I was in favor of bringing him in originally but not really anymore. Why pay to have him rehab with us for a year? Even if he has good workouts next season he isn't going to get a ton of money. Way too much of a risk.
Interesting because I thought the same thing, but the newspaper this morning reports that only the charges in New York were dropped -- they say Rafer was found guilty on both of the charges (public intoxication and misdemeanor assault) from the incident in Houston.
To be fair - the public intoxication and the assault from last year were Class C Misdemeanors - in other words, they're ticketable offenses that carry no jail time and are handled by the municipal courts. Not saying that makes it ok, but it's a very minor crime that is (from a legal standpoint) equivalent to a traffic ticket (which would also be a Class C Misdemeanor).
What an ignorant comment. Im sure if a drunk driver killed your mom, your wife, your brother or your child you would feel differently.
Why would/should any of us care what the guy does off the court if it does not affect his performance on the court? The law will handle his off the court conduct. I don't see how sitting behind a keyboard acting holier than thou does anything except make all of you look like you need to get a life. If you're so passionate about drunk drivers then get off a basketball forum and go do something about these people.
Because Rafer is a spokesperson for the Houston Rockets and therefore EVERYTHING Rafer does is a reflection of the organization. You see, he wears the Houston Rockets logo all over him, and they spend millions of dollars on that brand. So if he does something to tarnish that brand, a brand we all love and adore, we bet we care what he does.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=145321 The night before the Celtics game that we lost to end the streak. I got flamed for posting it. I still think it is really dumb to be drinking the night before a big game. I think it is dumb to be drinking and driving especially when you can afford not to. I don't think Rafer is a bad guy, he just needs to think.
It does not come up in the "criminal records" search I just ran on him for Texas. I will see if I can get more details
