There's not a single guard on that bench that has proven he can run the team better than Rafer...or they would be starting. You are right...we won't go far in the playoffs because of our guard play and our lack of consistent scorerers. Tmac and Yao alone will get us nowhere. Currently, Rafer is the best option to start. What does that say about our bench guards...especially those that can play the point? Not much. Steve had a brief opportunity to start and steal the job. He showed us jack *****...meaning he is not ready or good enough to start at this time. Things could change...but starting Rafer now is a no-brainer. Rafer's shot has gotten a little better from 3 land and there is no question he can run the point. The fact that noone can take Rafer's job speaks volumes currently.

I am so glad we have Rafer on this team, because if we didn't, Steve Francis would probably be our main PG. We'd lose many games because of this, but of course there's no way Francis could be to blame, and this entire board would be preaching, "Fire Adelman!" more than usual.

I got no problem with Rafe. Could do without the running teardrops that clank off the rim at weird angles, and a little more consistency from the arc would be nice, but he directs the O well enough, feeds Yao, beats his man & gets into the lane, runs the break, and plays D. Rox could do better, but they could do a lot worse, too.

You know, you guys will think I'm crazy, but I really do think if Head can be taught to calm down some, he could help run this offense. He seems to be the one guard that actually cuts, moves, and does a good job minus the occasional DOH turnover.

I just like what Luther does while on the court, and when he turns it over, it looks like it's because he's rushing himself too much.

Just a thought. At the very least, have him backing Rafer up.

5? Doubt too many NBA coaches would agree with that number right now, particularly with regard to Francis. If he was 5, he would have beat out 2 for the starting spot. As it stands, he couldn't earn any more than spotty minutes. Will he get better? Who knows.

Full strength as in 2001-2002 or 2000-2001 for Steve and Cat? The lotto years?

Steve and Cat and Cato in 2003/2004-- at the very least near full strength got Traded for Mac, Lue, and Howard and most thought it was a good deal.

I don't know how the rest of the math works... but Howard was supposed to have negative trade value, and I know Rafer is better than Lue.

    Doesn't compute.

I did not think it was a good deal at all

    SF + Cat + Cato > T-Mac + Flotsam
    TMac > Sf
    but
I felt we lost too much [like some feel about the astros recent trade . . only more so]

Also . . I was against the Barkley trade too

    Rocket River
Pippen trade as well . . .didn't get enough in return . . . or too much depends on how you see it.

Well... SF+Cat+Cato, in addtion to young Dwight Howard had a worse record than TMac, Flotsam (and what Flotsam got traded for), and SF, Cat, Cato's old teammates.

Even accounting for the fact that Cat got traded midseason, I still think the Rockets that year was a better team than the Magic with Cat.

In any case, it should be pretty clear afterwards, that the Rockets got the better end of that deal.

Well.. Rafer has had what, 21 chances this year? Plus how many last year?

And the return of Steve has seen him start how many times? MJ, how many?

I'll reserve my judgment until after the All-Star break, unless Rafer is already traded out by then...

And if he is, I'd say others will be in the deal.... fwiw.

You Rafer haters will never understand will you...

Rafer's value to the team has never been as high as it is now

He's the LEAST tradeable guard we have on the team

In other words, he's not getting traded, especially with two schizo's backing him up.

I hope you are right and other teams feel the same as you do! :D Then we will have accomplished our mission of making Rafer's trade value go up and be able to trade him! :D Morey would then be considered a genius when Steve and Mike start to play like they are capable of and we got a good trade for Wafer! ROFL I hope you are right man! Come on other NBA teams, see it as rofflesaurus sees it! We need you to! ;)

strange .. . I could have swore Cat was traded for a non productive person.
At the time of the trade they had a BETTER record than the Rockets

Weisbrod's constant tickering disrupted the chemistry of that team

Oh boy... this could be awkward. Hopefully the Rafer haters didn't hear Adelman's press conference after the Mavs loss.

JVG said the exact same thing last year and was trashed. T-Mac said the same thing like a week ago and was trashed. Here's what Adelman said word for word:
Uh oh... cue the RICK'S A MORON! FIRE HIM! sentiments. I guess your hopes of Adelman being so much different than JVG aren't coming true. Either that, or maybe Rafer has some value to the team.
