The only difference between Rafer now and Rafer earlier is he makes a reasonable amount of open shots and floaters these days.
I thought we all agreed last yr that the only thing wrong with Rafer was he never hit a reasonable amt of open shots and floaters those days.
during this streak rafer's fg% is .443, he's had 4 games shooting sub 40% and 6 games shooting 50% or over.
Just thought I'd pop in and give Rafer some props. I said it when people where wanting to trade him over the summer and last year, and when Mike James was acquired, and I'll say it again. He runs the team as well as anyone we've got, and better yet he seems to be thriving not only on Adelman's game plan, but with a faster paced game. Good Job, Skip.
Props from a Rafer critic, he is playing out of his mind right now. This is not the Rafer who was throwing "floaters" over the backboard the last two years, and clanking wide-open horse shots. I have always liked his personality, but his performance has been "scrub-like." Right now he is playing like a real NBA starter. I am all about team results and individual performance. At present, Rafer's contribution is huge. Keep it going.
Players perform better in a style of play that fits their skill set. Rafer is better suited for a uptempo style of play. JVG's slow down pace did not allow him to penetrate as much. He was relegated to being a catch and shoot 3 point shooter. He is obviously not that type of player. This system fits him much better, you can see it in his game. Alot of people don't realize his effort on the defensive end either. He shut Terry down last night... over the win streak he has done a very good job on other team's guards (A.I). I'm glad we did not trade him. He won't shoot lights out forever, we know that, but I think he recognizes other ways he can contribute to the team effort. Good job Skip to my Lou.... Keep it up.
If I had a million dollars, I would have bet it on the fact that Skip would never score 30 points in one game for his entire career. Whew good thing I dont have a million.
I still can't believe how well he's playing. To me, he's got to be a serious most improved player candidate.
I don't understand. When did Rafer morph into an All-Star caliber player? He's just been playing out of his mind for like two months straight now. I keep waiting for him to come back down to earth, but even if he has a bad game, he bounces right back and plays at that Super Rafer level again. What's going on?!?!
Rafer Alston is the latterday version of John Starks. From the streets, tough minded, scrappy, a bit streaky, but when he's on, is invaluable.
I thought Rafer cooled down and was getting back to earth the past 3 games but today wow Rafer is here to stay!
I guess he won't have to go back to playing outside and trying to get on the AND1 bus. Maybe Rox should sign the Professor and Hot Sauce next.
