Have to give Rafer some love after all the grief I have given Rafer over the years. I am glad I was wrong about Rafer and I hope he continues his play even when T-Mac comes back. Rafer should be the one in control of the offense and not just standing around waiting for T-Mac to bring the ball up the floor.
Aggression goes up . . . . .Turnovers go up but You know what. .. I don't give a sh** I'll take 5 turnovers . . . . for what Rafer is giving us BIG UP TO THE RAFER MADDNESS!! Rocket River He looking a lil Steve Francis-ish *grin*
I have always been a fan of Alston. Alston has always been a good floor general, even under JVG, but the problem was that he was reduced to a catch-shoot type of player once he brought the ball up, and that's not his game at all. Now with TMac out and move movement under Adelman, Alston can finally demonstrate his ball handling and court awareness. Alston is still Alston, maybe shot a little better, but he has been given more room to make plays now, instead of just catch & shoot.
He's always been aggressive, but now its working and that teardrop...so glad it goes in more than 50%. One thing i do see as a huge improvement is his poise in the fourth...no more insanely bad t/o when the game is close
i'm down with the appreciation for rafer, he's impressed me lately. and those freakin floaters are awesome, i used to hate them every time they clanged off the rim/backboard, but now it's his signature move
I am glad to see a lot of people show Rafer some love now. It's been real classy of some of you guys to come out and say you had bashed him in the past and giving him props for his recent play. Nothing more nothing less. Perhaps there's hope for this BBS afterall! Here's for hoping he can keep up his level of play. I don't expect him to shoot lights out all season, but if he can continue to make the right plays and make the shots he's taking at an acceptable rate, we might be in for a nice season (given we have a healthy roster).
Rafer went from the first person we wanted to trade away, to one of the guys that no one complained about simply because everyone else was sucking. But now he's took even higher. He's been making more 3's, he's been making MORE TEAR DROPS (!!!), and he's become one of our best players since Tmac has been out. Those drills on his tear drops are really paying off. Kudos to you Mr. Alston. You've proved us wrong, and I love it. Please keep up the good work.
Nice play Rafer, I've said many times the you were the best getting our offense going and looking for Yao, but your shooting was killing us. Threw out all the critisims you played hard, keep a good attiutde, fought for your job when all the PG's came to camp and here you are hitting your shots and pushing the offense. Thank You!
Dont look now, but his 3 point shooting has gone back down. But if he keeps driving his fg% will stay up over 40%.
Wow! Rafer has been playing his butt off lately. I've been frustrated with him for a long time and haven't been shy about letting people know it. I think this offense really suits him. That said,I have to echo the sentiments of many in this thread about him finally starting to finish consistently. It's nice to see the hard work start to pay off. Even his shooting has improved too. Another thing is that he plays better when he's pushed by someone else.Alston knows Aaron Brooks is sitting over there and has upped his game. Lastly Adelman is a helluva offensive coach and puts his guys in a postion to where they have the best chance to succeed. Keep proving me wrong Rafer.
nice thread! . . what i do hope is that since brooks has stepped up his game up quite good enough . . rafer alston will be like WTF hell no i want to keep my starting PG position . . so then he'll play even harder and harder . . and by this brooks will even play harder and harder . . and guys, what does this come out to? . . 2 dominant PG's working there butt of for us! . . what we def need!
I think Rafer is pretty much the same Rafer except he is hitting his teardrops and that gave him more confidence to drive more to the rim.
Rafer is doing well nowadays. But we can see how well he has improved when we meet Chris Paul of the Hornets.
