Rafer's play tonight reminded me a lot of the temporary and shallow military success of the surge in the Iraq war. You want things to go well because you're rooting for The Rockets as you're rooting for America. But you know the occasional flash of good news in a constant and proven sea of bad news will only set us back in making the fundamental changes that are necessary. Nice job tonight, Rafer. But, as we need political reconciliation in Iraq that can never be achieved at the point of an American gun, we also need a starting point guard that can punish the double team more than once a year. I am glad you shot well for once tonight, Rafer. Time to re-deploy now, friend. If not to another team, then please to the end of the bench. You have the power to temporarily appear to help our cause but you know as well as I that your continued presence on our frontline means nothing but harm to our ultimate goal. If guns could solve a civil war, I'd say let's order some more. And if Rafer could do this more than once or twice a year I'd say let's lock him up with an extension. But since I live in the real world, I say instead let's redeploy the troops in favor of a multinational peacekeeping force and LET STEVIE PLAY.
Those are the duckboats in Boston. They are usually used for tours of the city. When Boston teams have won championships recently, the team has generally ridden in these duckboats. http://www.bostonducktours.com/
man rafer always does this... right when his playing time is threatened he comes out and plays a decent game... man right when i was lookin forward to seeing steve play more often...this sucks and so does rafer i could care less if he has one good game out of fifty he still sucks and I would never appreciate his game until he starts hitting open threes not contested threes esp. in big games like vs the spurs or mavs
If I was a Republican I would say you must hate the Rockets and I would ask why you can't EVER appreciate the good news that comes from Rafer Alston starting for the Rockets. But not only am I not a Republican, I am a Rockets patriot. So I totally agree.
Better than forcing a Jackie Chiles post into every thread I post in. It's a metaphor, dork. And it's a metaphor that should resonate at least with the 70% or so of Americans that are sick of hearing that the same mistakes replayed again and again will turn out well in the end. You're about the only German left that would be offended by an anti-Iraq war metaphor so I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that you equated anti-Rafer positions with anti-Rocketism. I am only a patriot, my "friend." (The quotes mean I don't mean it, btw.) I care about the team like I care about my country. If that offends you, I can't be bothered with that.
True, but it was very funny stuff though. I appreciated the comparisons between the war in Iraq and Rafer. apart from the fact that war and bball have zero in common, i thought the post was mostly on point. Im being serious here.
Thanks, aussie. (I'm Aussie too, by the way. My grandmom's from Sidney.) But if basketball actually had zero in common with other aspects of life I'd have very little interest in it. Basketball, like all sports, provides great metaphorical insight into all things. That's why it's so fascinating. Starting Rafer, over and over again, is a direct match for the AA definition of insanity: doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result. Please forgive me if I see a metaphor with the war there. Or don't. Either one will do.
I have a feeling that in the next couple of games Steve Nash and Baron Davis are gonna appreciate Rafer a lot more than anybody here can.
Hear hear!!! HEAR HEAR!!!! *Loud applause* *STANDING APPLAUSE* BATMAN JONES FOR PRESIDENT!!! GIVE US LIBERTY OR GIVE US STEVIE!!!
Hey look! Rafer is number one! Field Goal Percentage Top five contributors: 1. Carlos Boozer (16.0 FGA per game at 56.9%) 2. Amare Stoudemire (12.1 FGA per game at 59.0%) 3. Eddy Curry (12.6 FGA per game at 58.1%) 4. Dwight Howard (10.7 FGA per game at 59.3%) 5. Elton Brand (14.9 FGA per game at 54.7%) Five biggest detractors: 1. Rafer Alston (13.0 FGA per game at 36.9%) 2. Jason Richardson (12.9 FGA per game at 37.4%) 3. Adam Morrison (13.3 FGA per game at 37.7%) 4. Mike Bibby (14.4 FGA per game at 38.7%) 5. Gilbert Arenas (21.8 FGA per game at 41.8%)
Assuming FGA is feild goal attempts per game, I am not sure where you came up with those stats. Rafer is only averaging 8.6 shots per game, certainly no where near 13. Besides James and Francis both have a worse FG% than Rafer so far this year.
