Alston and Woods are not playing tonight against Cleveland just because of the techs they got against Boston. Since when do coaches suspend players just for getting techs? If this same rule applied to Rasheed Wallace a few years ago, he would've only played about 30 games.

    How about?

    Houston sends Howard/Mutombo/Lue to Toronto.

    Toronto sends Alston/Marshall/Moiso to Houston.

I'm not sure about Alston. He is a nice PG, but if he couldn't get along with the coaches in Toronto, how would he react under JVG?

If we can get Marshall, that will be a great deal. DM can shoot 3 and rebound well.....

Toronto could get a much better deal than that.

I think that more and more, at least under JVG, it is clearly not just how good a player is, but what type of player is he? Is Raefer Alston really the right fit for JVG's offense? I wish he was (meaning I wish JVG's offense would change). I like Woods and Marshall though.

Alston's frustrated and said he might even decide to quit playing.

Doubt he really means it though. took him so long to be respected in the league and get playing time and now he signed a big deal. He is not going anywhere.

You're right but, if he truely feels that he might not belong in the league, do you think JVG would be a good coach to perk him back up? I mean, Alston is a streetballer at heart, I think playing under a slow down system of JVG would kill him.

Yea but he allows his team to get out and run and seems to know how to put together a system based on the talent he has on the roster.

I agree with you that he probably won't fit in the system too much. But he has become a great PG.

In Miami they had an uptempo type of game and that fits his style.

I think you are right Stack24 but it appears to me that he is emotionally fragile against criticism. I don't think Alston could get along with JVG.

yeah definently wouldn't get along at all with JVG

That was his biggest problem when he came into the league. He was a streetballer at heart and no one gave him a chance becasue he was flashy.

He finally figured out how to mix the two and play under the system of the NBA and coaches to stay in the league and it finally worked.

That said he still needs a running system not a half court offense and he is very fragile to critisism because he has been doubted since he was drafted.

Now we want Woods. ;) Why CD or JVG didn't think of that? He was garbage last season. The Heat kept Wang Zhizhi and let him go (and then the Bobcats did it too). That tells you how low they think of him.

Yeah, he probably would fix our woes of defending at 4.

Well, I just want woods because the current 4s we have play so poorly. I doubt CD or JVG or neone could have predicted the piss poor performance of our so called "power" forwards.

Alston has suffered under criticism. Yet, he thrived under head coach stan van gundy, who is JVG's older brother. I'm sure JVG could get some tips as to how to treat a head case like alston from his bigger bro.

Stan and Jeff are as different as night and day on the court. Stan is positive and fiery and is always pumping his team and trying to get the attention of the refs. He's got Dwayne Wade running up and down the floor creating, making mistakes, and making plays. But he lets him play through all of it and encourages the kid. Maybe we could do a Stan for Jeff trade? Jeff could use some tips from his brother on how to handle players and be a positive influence on them.
