damnit go read the slam article to know what i mean...anyways youre right im wrong, are you happy ------------------
What does the Slam article say? Does it say he can shoot? ------------------ President of the CC.net Realist Club, everyone needs a dose of reality once in a while...
OK! I agree he did not have the greatest FG percentage(.357), give him a break, it was his second season...look at these other players second season fg% Moochie NOrris .325 Jason Kidd .381 Vonteego Cummings .344 Lindsey Hunter(the guy taking his spot) .374 Courtney Alexander .348 Johnathan Bender .355 Jason Williams .373 Charlie ward .399 Jerry Stackhouse .298 I'm not saying he'll be a great shooter like ray allen, etc. I just think its funny how you focus on stats so much when youve never seen him play. He is a pass first point guard, not a shooter. The bucks have enough shooters anyways. He's better than lindsey hunter and thats all I was trying to get at. "I think most NBA players know who everyone is, just b/c players know about Alston, doesn't mean anything." Some people know him only by that name. Some just call him, "Skip." Ron Naclerio, Rafer's former coach at Benjamin N. Cardozo High in Queens, tells a story about when Rafer met Grant Hill at a party: "Hey." "S'up?" "Rafer Alston." "Nice to meet you." End of meeting. Later, someone told Hill that Rafer was actually "Skip to my Lou," and Hill went back to shake Rafer's hand again, eyes wide. http://www.angelfire.com/ca2/khadafi/story2.html yea yea i am stupid, sorry for talking out of my ass, you are always right bla bla bla ------------------
look at these other players second season fg% Courtney Alexander .348 Since Courtney Alexander hasn't even played in two seasons... ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. Profiles, rankings, mock drafts, and more! The Mo Taylor Fan Site
Okay when did I say any of this? My little 12 year old neice says crap like this, no need for the theatrics and the "you are always right" bs. Also that article you posted was written when Alston was 20, he's currently 25. I'm sure you can find a lot of articles for college guys that say they'll be awesome, but some of them always fall out of the scene. All that article does is say how awesome it is to watch him play and how NBA guys don't want to be embarassed by him. Okay he can do cool things with the basketball, he still hasn't done anything in the NBA. My whole point was it's not hard to be a little backup PG in this league, Sean Colson can do it, so to say Rafer Alston can be a backup PG in this league doesn't really say much. There's tons of backup PG's out there, might as well get one that doesn't have a record of violence. Oh and please don't comeback with "Duh I'm stupid, leave me alone, you're always right" b/c it just makes you look like a complete idiot... ------------------ President of the CC.net Realist Club, everyone needs a dose of reality once in a while...
hey Cat, I got it off nba.com yeah and pete rose, thanks for the reality check(not sarcastic) No seriously, I do realize that Rafer hasn't done anything in the league yet. The whole point of the original post was to ask where he will be next season. On the Bucks he got very little playing time, which annoyed me because he IS better than Lindsey Hunter. If you want to look at stats you can see it, but that's besides the point. Maybe if he got some decent minutes, he could do something in the NBA. "My whole point was it's not hard to be a little backup PG in this league, Sean Colson can do it, so to say Rafer Alston can be a backup PG in this league doesn't really say much." It'd be harder than you think to even make an NBA roster. What I'm saying is that Rafer should be the backup at Milwaukee cause cassell is obviously more experienced, but if he went to another city and got a chance IMO he would be a good starter if left to develop. Not a primary scorer, but he could put numbers up like mike bibby in vancouver. "There's tons of backup PG's out there, might as well get one that doesn't have a record of violence." That was in the past, I'm not saying he wouldn't do something again cause I dont know the guy, but give him a break. Anyways just have an open mind, and if he ever gets decent minutes, he might surprise you. Even if he does suck in the NBA, I'll always like how he plays basketball anyway. ------------------
Tozai : Skip is a solid back up pg Pete : no he is not Tozai : You stupid! Be more logical Pete : Here is a logical answer Tozai : GO read Slam article Pete : Here is another logical answer TOzai : You stupid! Go read Slam article! Pete : Here is another logical answer Other members : Here are other logical answers Tozai : But you guys didnt read Slam article Pete & Other Members : We prove that you are wrong Tozai : OK GEEZ... you are always right!!! im Stupid.. but that wasnt my point Tozai.. we all know who skip is.. don act like u are the only person who knows him.. we al have seen his move & commercials.. no he is not NBA type player 1) He cant shoot 2) He is not strong enough 3) Have you chceked his Dime/TO ratio? ------------------
His two season assist/turnover ratios: 2.41:1 3.40:1 Neither of these is bad, and the second one is actually pretty good. Both are better than Steve Francis in either year, Mike Bibby his first year, and Jason Kidd his first two years (if you average them). So, using his assist/to ratio as a reason for him not being NBA material is not a very valid argument. I personally think that anyone who has that much talent should probably be given the opportunity (somewhere) to show what he can do. There have been several point guards in the history of the league that were able to overcome poor shooting and still make solid careers for themselves. ------------------
djteknokid, what are you talking about when you say that pete rose was using logical arguments and all I was saying was to read the Slam article. The only logic pete used was saying his fg% sucked, and then I showed other players who had just as bad percentages after 2 years, so give him a break. Also if you consider measuring how good an athlete is by complaining about what crimes he committed, then I guess jason kidd, ray lewis, and other athletes suck also. Also why don't you read steve_francis_rules LOGICAL argument which completely shuts you down ------------------
Great.. First of all.. I didnt use Dime/To to argue.. i was asking a question.. Ijust wanted to know if u know the stat.. there is a difference between question and argument. So he completely shuts me down? I don think so.. i wasnt even arguing with that fact. ------------------
"Tozai.. we all know who skip is.. don act like u are the only person who knows him.. we al have seen his move & commercials.. no he is not NBA type player 1) He cant shoot 2) He is not strong enough 3) Have you chceked his Dime/TO ratio?" dont get so touchy, fine he didnt shut you down, make you happier? is this logical enough for you? 1)refer to my post about fg%, plus he is more of a passing pg then a shoot-first one 2)I dont think he's as strong as someone like baron davis or steve francis, but he aint no tayshaun prince or darius miles either. 3)you already saw what steve_francis_rules said "no he is not NBA type player" How would you know, considering he hardly gets to play? He did well in 2000 summer leagues (I know that aint saying much) but maybe you should listen to what s_f_rules said and not hate on him so much without giving him a chance ------------------
I explained the difference between Alston and Kidd. Kidd is an all-star, Alston is a scrub. All-star's can get away with doing bad things, scrubs can't. If Steve Francis beat the crap out of his girlfriend, he is more likely to stay than if Sean Colson beat up a chick. That's how the NBA works. The fact that there is no news about Rafer Alston and his free agency, is reason enough to say he's not that good. ------------------ So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking, Racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older, Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Steve Francis would love to play with "skip to my lou". His handles are legendary and his jumper is silky smooth. We would forget about moochie very quickly. Rudy's style is much better for him than George Karl who puts the locks on him. He would set the second team on fire with EG and TMorris running the wings. Let Moochie go and sign this baller quick before the league knows what's happenning. In addition, ask Steve who he would prefer, Moochie or Rafer? Rafer hands down. ------------------ Let go and let GOD!
If Steve wanted Alston, the Rockets would sign him. He wanted Morris, and the Rockets traded for him. If Steve really wanted Alston over Moochie, then the Rockets would listen to Steve and try to sign Rafer. If Alston was NBA talent, then we'd be hearing about his free agency like we've been hearing about Eddie Robinson's. ------------------ So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking, Racing around to come up behind you again. I explained the difference between Alston and Kidd. Kidd is an all-star, Alston is a scrub. ALL i got to ask is, Was kidd an all-star after 2 years? ALso how much playing time did he get compared to rafer? By the way, Milwaukee is resigning him according to peter vecsey "Milwaukee also is pursuing Joe Smith and has offered Rafer Alston a minimum (690G) one-year guarantee, whose daylight is bound to increase as a result of Lindsey Hunter's trade to the Lakers" ------------------ [This message has been edited by tozai (edited July 23, 2001).]
You sure those numbers are field goal percentages and not three point percentages? I don't remember Stackhouse shooting 29% FG in a season ------------------ GO LAKERS GO
They probably are. He's not too good with his numbers. ------------------ The title will come to ClutchCity once again.
wow youre so funny vj...actually why dont you look them up yourselves at nba.com because those are all fg% ------------------
Jerry Stackhouse FG% = 40.7% 3P% = 29.8% ------------------ This post contains no smilies, you must judge my seriousness on your own...
