Seen a year plus of Raefer as starting point - no thanks! It's obvious Raefer cant carry the load, we need to start plugging others into the role if we are gonna have any kinda shot at making a legitimate run. One guy or another can have a decent night or two here and there, but no one can make an informed decision until we see what various players (MJ, SF, AB) can do if they're given the reigns for at least a reasonable length of time. We've seen what Alston can (and cannot) do, and I don't think its sufficient to get a ring - time to experiment with other options.
i think Adelman should steve a chance to prove himself. steve was ever a all star. he has the abilty, and what he needs now is chance
that's it...You've figured it out... the only reason Rick Adleman starts Rafer is because they have the same first and last initials. I don't know why any of us didn't figure this out sooner. ...sorry this probably isn't funny but its almost 3am and that post just seemed funny to me.
My point is that Rafer sucks no matter who you compare him to. Hes the worse starting PG in the game today.
Sad is using some assist statistic to completely judge how good of a PG someone is. So if Rafer makes a great post entry pass to Yao (he seems to be the only guard who's great at it) and Yao eventually converts, that doesn't mean anything? Rafer gets no assist for that but he did his job. Not to mention that he's not exactly play 40 minutes anymore when T-Mac and Yao are both playing.
Looks like DaDakota's new flavor of the month is Aaron Brooks. I expect some "PLAY BROOKS" threads coming up soon. Brooks was T-Mac back in Oregon you know. I am honored to be facebook friends with him. Hey dude! I have a better idea. Quit making such ridiculous suggestions and bow down to this ingenious man!
Will be losing the next 2 games anyway. So why not try something new and see how it works. Maybe Scola and SF3 will be the suprises in T-Mac's abscence..
Hello peeps, Definitely didn't intend for this type of response to be my first post, but I couldn't help but to support this idea. More to come in a minute.
I have been a rockets die hard fan now from before the championship years. I am not necessarily a Steve Francis "fan", but I definitely believe in statistics and history. All those people saying that Steve sucks, has lost a step, isn't any good anymore, is out of shape.........just go to the career stats page for Steve and then for Rafer and then for Mike James. Compare each year of their career, and the last two years of their careers. If anything in that suggests to you that Steve shouldn't be getting some playing time, then Im amazed at your inability to read clearly what's on the page. Most of you just requote what some Steve haters say about his inability to play right now. If you watched the preseason, or look at the stats for all three of the guards in question, you will see that in no way did Rafer and Mike outplay Steve enough for him to get ZERO playing time so far. RA definitely has something against him!
I was so excited about RA coming to coach this team. Not anymore. He has shown me that his EGO is MUCH BIGGER than Steve's or any other player on the team. I hate it when short men that make less money try to prove it to the stars of the team that they have more power. We get it already RA, youre in charge. Now make some good decisions! RA is an offense first coach. But he seems to be trying to live in JVG shoes. He is starting three players that are not good offensive players or threats. They won't EVER learn his system as a starting line up because they don't have the talent to be that offensive minded. It's a NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN project! RA should start his best five offensive players, and use his bench to be defensive stoppers with Chuck and Shane coming off the bench to shut down the other teams benches best players. Let our starting five just outscore other teams. If we started Steve(yes Steve), Bonzi, Tmac, Scola and Yao; it would be a defensive nightmare for other teams and we would outscore other starting lineups at will. No team could double anyone and match up with us defensively. If all the starters played 32 plus minutes a game, the other team would have nightmares. Chuck and Shane are very good ROLE players. Defensive nightmares for the other teams. Bringing them in together off the bench would help to shut down the other teams best bench players. Most nights, the other teams bench has players that come in and hurt us a lot. We would still have Mike James as our best bench player with offensive, shane should be better offensively against bench players, Chuck will still get 10 plus rebounds against BENCH players, instead of the best power forwards in the league, and Kirk Snyder should see playing time with his atheleticism to run the court against other benches. Let me say this loud and clear, no matter who all plays, starts or comes off the bench, if you want a championship contender: RAFER ALSTON SHOULD NEVER EVER NEVER AGAIN BE ON THE COURT FOR A ROCKETS TEAM UNLESS 7 OTHER PLAYERS ARE INJURED IN THE SAME GAME!
We've already discussed this... either get on board or we'll come to your job and start chanting "You Suck Too!!!"
Rookie Chinasun - what is the point of the Chinese militaristic photos? And in the middle of a basketball discussion? Seems like they might belong elsewhere.
