Or how about the fans boo Rafer any time he has the ball in his hands like he's a player on the other team that you just simply hate for some reason? Rafer and the team will feel like that they're playing on the road if that ever happens.

Another thing, can the Red Rowdies or somebody please start a "WE WANT BROOKS" chant at the next game as well?

Here we go again. Gotta love the Internet basketball coaches that think they can coach the team better than Rick Adelman, EVEN THOUGH they've never been to a practice, EVEN THOUGH they're observing the whole situation from a very outside perspective, EVEN THOUGH they think that FG% is the only relevant aspect to decide how good someone is at playing PG.

And I if you were a German in the 1940s would you have supported Hitler? Sometimes you gotta turn on your own bro. But I do agree with you... its not Rafer's fault he sucks... however, this is anyone but Daryl Morey's fault

Right. Yao and Bonzi played poorly this game. They have even average games, and we would have had a great chance of winning in San Antonio, without Tracy McGrady and with Rafer Alston playing 43 minutes. If Rafer was really so terrible, none of that computes.

Actually I am German ;) . And that is a whole different thing. Or would you like to compare starting a world war and killing 6 million people to someone who misses the basket regularly?

All I am saying is, rooting against your own team won`t help but hurt. The whole team will play worse and the coach won`t change the way he coaches just because the audience wants something else.

And Rafer ain`t the antichrist. He didn`t play too well, but he didn`t play that bad either: shooting 4 of 10 with 4 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 TOs is ok. He hit some good layups that kept us in the game. If he would get back to his career avg. (which aren`t too good) and limit his shoots to wide open shots, we would be alright. Until someone shows, that he deserves Rafers minutes, he is our starter. Brooks is too inexperienced and Steve seems to be too out of shape with a bad atittude.

His best is not good enough. The man is shooting 20 something % on the season. How can any team win it all with those stats coming from their starting PG?

First of all, my definition of point guard is a player that can do everything (score, pass, rebound, defend, etc...)on the court when needed. He sacrifices his offensive game to make sure his team is clicking. He is a also respected as the leader of the team because the team knows he is sacrifcing so that everyone can get stats.

Personally, I think Steve Francis is the best candidate to meet the above definition talent wise(not sure about defense). Has he matured to that stage mentally is his BIG question mark.

Rafer what is takes mentally to be a PG, but talent wise he is lacking in the areas of being a consistent offensive threat and a respected leader and tough defender.

Mike James in my opinion is a solid back-up but the more minutes he gets the less impressive he is. Good off the bench scoring threat, okay defender, championship experience is always a plus.

Head is a tweener. The guy is a okay shooter and slasher at times, but he should never be asked to handle point guard duties.

I think at this point you have to start thinking about working Steve in. Yao admitted that he didn't come in to camp in the best of shape but it's no way you bench him. So as a coach you prove your point to Steve because you have to let him know you expect more of him. Now that your best player is hurt. The coach must think about what is best for the team. Continue to start Rafer and let James and Scola be the first of your bench continue to give Head some minutes, but when you go three guard offense like he did tonight I make it Rafer, James and Steve. Give him situations now to prove that he needs to be on the floor and go from there. Let his play dictate time increases and decreases.

You right I'm now a basketball coach, and I don't know more than RA. But I do know one thing and that is a starting PG who numbers look like this 31% fg, 20% from 3, 4.6apg and only 6.8ppg. are not good numbers. And a team will never win it all with those numbers coming from there starting PG.

If Francis is too dumb to work himself back into shape, I'm willing to see what Aaron Brooks has to offer...

The FG% doesn't really matter if he doesn't take many shots. That's the problem. Rafer's FG attempts pretty much is a meter on how well the offense is running. If it's high, it's bad. His PPG is not supposed to be high. That's the whole point. He's not supposed to be shooting a lot. That's why we call him a traditional, pass-first PG.
