championship team? I think the better question is 'Can Rafer play for a playoff team?'

He doesn't need to score, you're right. But he needs to set up the offense smoothly and that didn't happen once tonight. He cracked and turned the ball over. When they showed him on the bench, he was so overwhelmed by the playoff atmosphere and pressure that his face had turned blue (I am not making this up. Check out the expression on his face on the bench after he fell and almost turned the ball over at the end of the first OT). Consequently he had no confidence and running in circles without actually getting us into our offensive sets. HOPE HE GETS BETTER THOUGH

People calling for Rafer's head need to realize that we don't have another capable PG on the bench. JVG tried Luther at the point for a stretch in this Lakers game and it was ugly, so ugly that I was relieved when Rafer came back in.

    Don't trade him!

You never know what kind of trade you would get. What if we get some one worse than Alston?

We should get a decent point guard and then BENCH Alston! He can play some back up times.

it's funny that people love to quote that commercial but they can elaborate on what they're saying.

it takes only one player to turnover the ball and compound that same mistake by stupidly fouling on the other end..which is the signature move of Skip To My Lou.

True. Just like Yao, Rafer's going to get tired too. He makes a lot of mistakes but he has no back up either.

I don't know it's another heartbreaking loss there will be trade threads and bashing all around.

Maybe when T-Mac gets back and the team starts to win again they'll stop.

    Oh wait, probably not.

If we had played Spanoulis and Lucas more, maybe we WOULD have a capable PG. No one said Luther was a good choice for PG. But when you have two other PGs on that bench--who, btw, could have probably played better than Alston did in that 2nd half--and not play them, then yes, Alston is the only capable PG we have.

The losing of this and last games is mainly responsible by JVG. I got to say that JVG need to leave after this season although I supported him in the past.

The waird thing of this season is that he let TMac to function as a PG more to distribute the ball, so how to deal with Rafer who is a pass first PG? The answer from JVG is to let Rafer shooting at 40% FG. This totally screwed things up. Todays is a typical example in which the game is lost by a player with less 40% FG and more than 20 shoots.

Why did not give the ball to Head? not JH? not Battier?

I just could not understand why do not give the damn ball to others while every others were shooting better than you?

Players on the court may not notice that? why didn't the coach remind them?

Another wasted game with 19 points lead. No excuse for JVG.

I couldn't stand to listen anymore as soon as I heard "And Rafer turns the ball over". Rafer is such an inconsistent PG...

Why did we go into a small bidding war for JL3's services with the likes of Phoenix and some other teams if he's just going to rot on the bench?

Why did we drool over Spanoulis' abilities and wanted him to come over so bad if he's just going to sit by idly?

Can somebody please get the game tape, chain Alston to a chair and force him to watch it over and over again so he can realize two things: 1) What happens when he decides to drive and attack the basket and 2) What happens when he decides to camp out at the 3-point line?

He's a good player that doesn't at all play to his strengths. He shoots too many 3-pointers for a guy that isn't a good long-range shooter. 35% from long-range isn't exactly terrible but we all know that on average about half of those are relatively uncontested or wide-open shots. He's quick, he can drive with both hands in both directions and usually has plenty of options once teams collapse on Yao and dare him to shoot. Next time they do that maybe he can surprise them by doing something else besides throwing up another brick?

that would be the coach's job. which, it appears, is not being performed.
