handicap would be keep 8 and 32 says morey asking about shelden and jj jj....fits the team need on one dimension, dificult to forecast how he is going to play thru out of his career, minus on rebounding and defensive end..hard to forecast like he said, shelden....low risk player, he will be an nba pro, he is someone who is valuable roy....ready to play, low risk, he was the best player on his team and conference, can play outside , inside, can rebound.....very good at all sets of game all by morey!
also said, other than standing pat with the #8 and #32, that it would be more likely they traded up than traded down and said rudy gay was high-risk high-reward
This is a numbers guy and trading down if you look at draft picks historically is a bad idea. The great players come from the top and the probability of drafting a bust increases as you move down. Its just the facts. The only problem with moving up is that historically its the drafts like this one with no clear cut #1 & #2 guys that produce high risk to pick position ratios. Why Sheldon Williams would be on anyones $h!t list is beyond me, all he does is work his a$$ off and produce in every statistical category. Oh, and he can play defense too. I truely believe that if SW were picked #1 in this draft in 5 years people will look back and say it was a good pick. I wouldn't pick him #1 but he's in my top 4.
says roy is NBA ready..played 4 years in college he plays hard, he is a competitor, likes that a lot don't see gay at 8.... question about another pointguard...talking about MJ, askin about MJ and Alston combo? he says has no problem playing with him, but he has a concern about who the main pg would be
Nothing much was said but if you wanna listen anyway - Daryl Morey interview http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=4C7FD9C424560B55 Rafer Alston interview (yeah, way too short) http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=4B59DC360D1717ED
Disagreeing with solid, Gater and m_cable in the same thread is enough for me to want to just shut up. But Rafer was a good pick-up. He looked to me as confused as anyone ever has last year, but ball distribution got complicated after our second game. Not hitting open shots on a team with virtually no one on it has rankled seemingly everyone here. A confused point guard is what he is. The guys that think he's part of the problem had better want to bring in V-Span or come up with an alternative. Which no one has. I think we're farther away from contention than most here, but I do think Alston deserves another year just so that we can judge. Funny thing about Alston and Stro, if they're not assets Yao and T-Mac aren't going to be able to do a damn thing. And a lot of people are cool with that.
I so agree. Rafer on a Team with Both Yao and Tmac and possibly another option such as Roy, or Gay to find open shots will be nice. Maybe 1 or 2 oops to Tyrus Thomas if he is Stromile #2 with heart. Point being (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH get the pun), rafer can find open guys, it's just that our open guys SUCK, hence them being open. But Rafer drops the ball in nicely to Yao, and he also does an adequate job penetrating. So, let's cut him some slack. Plus, every once in a while he goes back to being skip and that is always fun to watch.
Well I was pretty much just joking. Whether you like Rafer or you don't (and it's not like I despise him or anything), I'm pretty sure everyone can agree that he's got to work on his shot this summer. P.S. Sign Mike James. Have him and Rafer split the PG duties, then all is forgiven.
well said. I've been a believer in Rafer since the day he stepped foot in Toyota Center and still believe he's one of the better fits at PG for this team.
