Foster will be a good addition - good rebounder/passer/cutter... but if Yao misses games, the Rockets will not have enough scoring from PF/C....if T-mac misses games, Bonzi/Francis/James can all chip in

    Rafer for Posie?!?
Do you remember how much he didn't amount to the last time he donned a Rockets uniform? I certainly hope that he doesn't return to Houston.

Jeff Foster is a REALLY good addition. Look at his numbers from last year:

Ranks #1 in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(7.0)

Ranks #5 in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds Per Game(3.4)

Ranks #3 in the NBA in Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(16.8)

Foster is a rebounding MACHINE and he's EXACTLY what we need to complement this team. If we can get Foster or Haslem for Rafer, then it's a good deal. We shouldn't trade Rafer for anything less than Foster/Haslem. Please don't trade Rafer for players like Ike Diogu, it's not worth it!

I think it's highly unlikely that the Pacers would trade Foster for any of our guards. The Pacers just signed Travis Diener, so they got their backup PG already and either Rafer or Head would be excess for them :(

The best we could probably hope for is Rafer to Miami for Doleac and Simien. With neither player guaranteed to make our team, perhaps only serving as expiring contracts.

Why would the Pacers even think about trading Foster without something really nice in return? I have yet to see one of these Foster fantasies that made any real sense at all for Indiana.

Brooks is not quite ready for the big time, I think, and beyond him, Rafer is the only true PG we have (aside from JL3). MJ and SF both play like two guards. Everyone knows about Stevie's dribbling, and as I keep saying, James put up more shots per minute than Yao when he was on the team. Keep Rafer!

From the way we acquire James/Brooks, it's clear that Adelman wants a PG who can shoot/penertrate. I mean, Alston was underrated IMHO, but he can't shoot nor penertrade, so he really is the odd man out for the current roster. If he is willing to accept 10 minutes game, then I don't mind keep him, but would Alston be satisfy? Would the management keep a 5-10 minutes backup for $4 Mil/year when we can trade him for a quality PF? I doubt it..

Posey is actually a very good defender and 3-point shooter. He is also very athletic. This would be a fine deal but, if we trade Rafer, we should be looking for a rebounding big not another swingman.

Well you could trade Landry to them for Foster. And throw in a bag of chips..ie Rafer and they'd do that in a second.

Rafer was playing a lot of minutes last season and he freaking took a lot of shots too that he missed!!! Rafer can not finish his penetrations in the lane and when he was left wide open for the 3......CLUNK!!! He doesn't even have a mid range jumper. At least James, SF3 can finish in the paint and are much better rebounders. Rafer was like a chicken running on the court with no head.

Even if these moves get done, we'd STILL need a true PG.

    BUT...

if Morey was to get the Head/Hayes for Foster, and the Alston/Sura/cash for Mobley done, we'd be in GREAT shape.

I'd even like it better if we threw in Kirk Snyder in the Indy deal, and they added Travis Diener.

Umm!!! The games I watched, and admittedly I didnt watch them all, Rafer took the ball to the other end and distributed it to McGrady. It appeared that McGrady was having to do Rafer's job.

Scola and Butler are both offensive players. The situation wouldn't be as dire as last year (when Juwan was our goto big man).

For a center, he's definitely above average.

It is clear that Rafer is gone, or not in the plans anymore, as an organization, you don't bring in two good NBA point guards and then draft another one with your first round pick if you believe that Rafer is good enough.

Clearly the lack of talking about Rafer by Morey and Adelman is speaking volumes.
