There was still a significant height and size differential as Simmons was close to 6'10 to 6'11, could switch onto Centers sparingly.

That’s the bump? After 2 summer league games you crowned yourself? lol

You can see my post history I said Sheppard would be a good player so I’m not surprised at how he’s playing nor am I surprised Sarr is shooting poorly on these silly jumpers he’s taking. Doesn’t change anything about what I said.

Alex Sarr, Chapter ONE: Outrebounded by a 6'1" guard.

Let's just be thankful that the Wemby effect caused 2 teams to pick mediocre looking tall Frenchmen and let us take Reed.

Honestly, this is an interesting point I hadn’t considered. Did teams overrate Sarr and Risacher because of Wemby? It’s certainly possible.

Dude you basically talked up Sarr like he was some generational can't miss top pick and even the idea that somebody might think Sheppard was going to be better was absurd.

That’s ridiculous, I do think Sarr is a generational-ish talent and I always believed/stated that Sheppard would be a good NBA player.

I haven't seen one analyst refer to Sarr as a "generational-ish talent." That's ridiculous.

You attacked even the notion that someone would have Sheppard higher on their board than Sarr. Since that point, the Hawks have essentially said they viewed Sheppard as a "Patrick Mahomes" like prospect and almost picked him at 1. Several analysts had Reed #1, especially those who rely on analytics. Now, Sheppard is dominating Sarr even in categories where Sarr should shine, such as rebounding.

It's not that you had Sarr higher -- so did I. It's your dismissal of anyone who MIGHT have had Sheppard higher that's absurd.

I mean you know the hawks stuff is just random bullshit, there's zero chance they actually think that about reed. If they did, they would have picked him 1st without giving it a second thought

I’m not sure I think that at all. Teams overthink things all the time. I also wonder if the draft would have gone differently had the Hawks been able to trade Trae.

Mahomes basketball equivalent is who? jordan? Lebron? If they graded Reed as someone who had top 2-3 GOAT potential they take him 1st without a thought.

I didn’t say it. The Hawks reportedly did. Reading the tea leaves, it sounds like they believed Sheppard has a high ceiling and low floor, so they went with a safe pick that fits with Trae.

ya i mean people spew all sorts of garbage, but you can apply logic to know that they absolutely DID NOT think he was a mahomes level prospect....because they passed on him for someone who isn't highly regarded at all

Hawks didn't seem to interested in Sarr and based on how he's looked....you can see why.

I just pointed out that Sarr is ranked higher by most people. You took it so seriously.

Here’s a pat on the back. I’m going to go back to cheering for Reed Sheppard.

Hawks didn't seem interested in Sarr because Sarr didn't want to work out for them pre-draft. They originally were interested in him. He originally was scheduled to work out with them, but he declined to show up later. Apparently it was his "handlers"/agent that may have told him not to show up.
