Yes, I can definitely understand your argument that Blake can be better for this team, albeit only slightly, given that he is more CONSISTENT (for cryiing out loud, if only u can hit you damn open jumpers rafer  ).

But if you're talking about overall ball-protection ability and the ability to penetrate and score, I think I would rather have rafer alston on this team. Yes, he is suking right now, but I would definitely much rather have the rafer alston last season than the steve blake this season.

The same also could be said for Yao missing or getting blocked by the rim on a point blank all alone dunk. Man that was ugly and completely inexcusable.

That's not the point of the trade for the Bulls. They would get an expiring contract in Francis, and Rafer coming of the books sooner then Hinrich. Battier is just icing on the cake and a steady veteran that the young Bulls severely lack. Paxson has made dumb moves before and Morey is God, where is the doubt here?

yeah he may suck and can't shoot but sad to say he is a main piece to the team. We all saw what happened in the playoffs last year where the team struggled without him on the court.

We need to pick up the phone let it ring and try to get Bibby back with Adleman. Who better to run his offense than Bibby.

    UGH !!!

This drives me nutz......we were down 14 points with Rafer in the playoffs before he got injured.

Rafer was a key, only because we had no other option....but if Yao is there, Rafer is even LESS of a key.

Get rid of him, take the chemistry hit, build around someone else...and see how much further this team can go...because Rafer hit his ceiling 5 years ago and has been declining ever since.

Yeah...4 years of Rafer sucking is knee jerk.........LOL - if you had been here longer you would know that I have been in favor of finding another PG since the day he got here.

I don't agree with this. I think we get blown out in games 3 and 4 with a healthy Yao.

You may be right, it depends on which Yao shows up, the confident one or the slow footed lacking confidence one.

The issue is that even after that hot stretch, he managed to suck his way back to his career crap averages.

    DD --

I am not the biggest rafer fan (not sure if there is a rafer fan) but I would give him until the end of the road trip before trying something new. I actually do not think starting head or and placing tmac at the 1 isnt a bad idea.

rafer does help the team push the ball up the floor he is always looking to push, tracy stopped running up the court a long time ago, luther doesnt have the handles to push the ball up the court.

his shooting is really disturbing because last year he got off to a good start, i think he has always gotten off to good starts and filled us all with false hope and then came back down. and he is getting off to a bad start this year. also he stopped driving to the rim, something he did during our streak last year, thats all bad signs.

Partially i think its complacency, last year james, francis and brooks came into camp and rafer had to fight for his position this year that wasnt the case. Brooks is developing into the perfect backup-change-of-pace PG and there was no one else.

5 game road trip we have to finish over .500 on the road trip to be considered a legitimite contender IMO... I hope Rafer understands this

I dont know if there is a viable option out there. No one knows the status of Francis and even if he is able to come back can he run a complicated offense like Rick's? He is a better shooter and can get into the lane and finish much better than rafer of course, but I am not going to hope on Francis making a return at this point and being the savior at the point.

which really only leaves going to a big lineup of Tracy, shane, ron, scola, yao if rafer continues to play this poorly. I am not sure that luther is good enough to be a starter, hopefully he can prove me ron because I would prefer to have shane/ron come off the bench to pack more punch.

hopefully rafer returns to the form he had during streak where he played well, didnt shoot lights out but he shot pretty respectable and drove to the rim a lot.

Radical no, ridiculous yes. Luther Head should not be, and is not, even in our rotation. I would love to solve the Rafer question, but not like this. Man would I love to get Lowry or Crittendon on this team. Maybe Memphis would take our expirings and both draft picks next year for Lowry. A Lowry/Brooks combo would solve our problem at pg for years to come. I know I'm just pipe dreaming.

Hey, that works too......I am just all for getting Rafer the heck off the court.

Him missing wide open shots is also demorilizing to the guys on the team.....I mean WIDE OPEN shots.....

How many guys on the roster are looking on going.."Man, I could hit that shot".....?

I'm not sure whether it's possible. But Pablo Prigioni could be a right answer to the issue.

I used to stick up for Rafer because he made minimal mistakes, played some D, and made the right pass.

    Now...come on...this is ridiculous.

I've always said that Mcgrady and AI would be perfect on the same team. AI plays his best with a big guard who doesn't mind giving up the rock and Mcgrady greatest attribute is getting people open good looks. I don't think this team needs a PG at all. We need a quick 2. I think Jason Terry would be relatively easy to pick up, or someone along those lines.

Jason Terry would be a good fit for this team, but I can't imagine Cuban giving him up for expirings and draft picks. Cuban is too impatient to re-build.

Look, I don't think people realize how badly Rafer hamstrings this team, in the playoffs, teams ignore him......and guard the other 4....every time he is in the game.

And he can't take advantage of that.

Don't you find it horrid that all the teams fortunes would be decided by it's worst shooting player?

Rafer is a good guy, but a lousy lousy lousy shooter, and that is the ONE most important role to play with Yao, Tmac and Artest on the floor drawing double teams...you have to be able to take advantage of the opportunities they create.

    Rafer...sucks.

God..i hope Morey's doin something about the Rafer problem..hopefully, Dorsey will radically step up and learn quickly so he could be in the rotation..with this Morey can have the trading pieces he can use..
