At this point I'd take a chance on Coby Karl. Bring him Karl as a third PG and see if Rafer's minutes can be further reduced. Rockets can either waive Von Wafer and replace his non-guaranteed contract with another (Karl's) or trade Landry+Francis+Head for Jeff Foster to create the salary space. Foster solves rebounding, D, and height behind Yao. He might even be a good future investment as he's an expiring contract who'll be 32 when he signs his next contract. Players in the NBA get paid for potential so he could end up a vet min to $2M level player. Another trade I'd look at is Alston+Landry for Chalmers+Haslem
I'll give you credit for saying unofficially.... -Mike Bibby is washed up (has been for a couple years...see playoffs 08) -Duhon would be our 3rd string PG...and rightfully so (I'm the biggest Duke fan you'll meet so don't play that card) -Nelson is a better scorer but PG for a team with 4 better scoring options...no -Chalmers...quick name the last championship team with a rookie starting PG.. -Ridnour or Sessions...Ridnour couldn't start for a garbage SEA team...but for our championship contender WHY NOT? As far as Sessions, any joker can put together 5 good games, I would never trust him in a clutch situation on a real team -If you complain about Rafer's shooting why on earth do we want A. Miller? -TJ is off to a good start but do you trust his shot or defense...really? -Conley or Lowery...maybe into the future...but right now, for a team this year...that'd be highly optimistic... -Beno...we saw what Udrih can contribute to a real team where he isn't allowed to go nuts with the ball, he's got Shareefism of the PG position -Watson is a solid player but never been a full time starter...pretty much on par with Rafer in my opinion -Foye has potential, but potential doesn't win rings, Telfair has...um...Telfair haaaass...an ESPN documentary...there we go, his career in a nutshell. That's a 3rd of those guys that Rafer is atleast on par with, if not significantly better than. Alot of the other guys are counted on to be scorers and big time players, that's not what we need...we have THREE stars...we don't need a 4th running the show, it isn't practical to have a 4th...see LA Lakers 04-05...we need a role player and that's what Rafer is...
A year's seasoning with the Lakers, 3rd option, non-guaranteed contract. It's called taking a look, not cutting Rafer immediately.
the problem is half the guy's on that list are all start or perennial all stars making triple what rafer's making.........if we actually acquired the other half of your list, you'd still be whining.....Chris Duhon??? you seen the knicks play this year? it's a freaking lucy goosey run and jack shots offense and DUhon still looks like crap.
