Its definitely an option worth considering.

Morey has said one of the big reasons for getting Kevin Martin was because of how well Yao plays in the penalty. You can maximize Yao's minutes in the penalty if you bring him off the bench.

As good as his skills are, your hero Yao is a pathetic specimen as far as durability goes. I believe he has actually missed as many games as T-Mac the last few years. No one cares how good the guy is or whether or not he can put up 20-10 if he does not last the entire season and thereafter. I would GLADLY trade Yao for a 15-10 center who can play the entire season. It would probably cost less as well. As of now, Yao is actually one of the weak links on our team. $17 million for an injury prone and easily neutralized center is a horrible investment.

Leebigez This clearly aligns you with the Yao haters-. In fact as a Houston Rockets Fan your statement is very belittling and quite a disgusting conclusion. :p

If the bum breaks his foot, and retires. Then you have nothing but an injury exception. He needs to stay healthy enough to last until the February tradeline. Double the minutes = double the odds of a broken foot.

It's not a radical idea, it's the only intelligent thing to do. It would be idiotic to start him opening night, or at all in Nov. He's got to be eased in for everyone's sake.

And Yao haters are pond scum.

This isn't about bringing him off the bench because he needs to work his way back into the lineup. We're talking about bringing him off the bench even if he is at full strength.

If the idea is to maximize efficiency, and Yao is the most efficient scorer in the league in the bonus according to Morey, then playing him during penalty minutes only makes sense.

Defensively we would need a strong presence to combat other teams' starters though, that's where I would worry. I miss Mutumbo.

If the minutes are the same it doesn't matter whether they come at the beginning or end of a half. When he plays should depend on whether we are in the bonus, and who our opponent has out on the floor.

And then James and Wade go to NY, and they win the title for the next 5 years.

Whatever we do, Rick better not use his stupid rotation of playing Yao 12-15 minutes straight before sitting him for 5 minutes and than repeating the same exact thing in the 2nd half of the game, especially when we need him fresh for the last 5 minutes of the 4th.

Interner gangsta, lol. Why don't you try watching hoops and learning about the rockets. I have a better one for you, go and find the last team that had their highest paid player coming off the bench and win a ring. Maybe you should try to learn something or change your name again. I'm sure you're another poster with another screen name.
