Just for the record, racism is all over the world, not just America. In many places it's a lot worse.
Separate but equal airlines sounds like the answer. Seriously, I don't fly unless I really, really have to because I don't know what crazy person or persons I'm flying with. I drive because I know the crazy person who's driving. The extra risk is worth the peace of mind because I have control.
Why does the thread title call her a racist? Did she say she hated arab people? Or did she make an incorrect judgement call based upon some suspicious bathroom behavior? If anything the questioning of these guys was a racist thing to do, she asked off the plane....and she should be punished by the airlines by not allowing her to fly for a year...or something like that. DD
why the hell don't they just let her off the plane and let the other non prejudice people go on with their flight?
I laughed for a good minute-and-a-half when I read this. Sorry my sarcasm detector wasn't on earlier.
Too harsh on DD. There are lots of women who freak out over anything, especially when they are traveling with children.
Who can say? I'm not a fan of crying children, getting blown up or having coffee spilled on me. You get my drift, I hope. The world is not perfect, and I don't know anybody who can make it that way. The woman's fear was irrational but it's her right to be afraid and ask to get off. Lots of people do or don't do things because of premonitions or fears, whether real or imagined. Muslims brought this upon themselves just as Americans have brought about ill will in the world because of our actions or inactions. Individuals -- regardless of race, creed, gender, etc. -- generally are innocent in and of themselves, but whole peoples generally are lumped together as "good guys" or "bad guys." It's the way of the whole world. Get used to it.
Every American has a right to think that way. Anybody who doesn't feel safe in an airplane, he/she can choose to get off the plane. It is a fundamental right. Middle eastern people also should understand tht some people have suffered mentally due to 911. This is a give and take situation, not all people act the same way. In other words this doesn't happen all the time.
hopefully cases like this will get enough publicity so that everyone learns not to jump to conclusions based solely on someone's race or background.
No doubt. She wouldn't even be alive to talk to the newspapers, and if she was alive, she would be too scared to talk to the newspapers. I can just see her looking out her airplane window and seeing a BIGWHEEL moving up the conveyor belt with the rest of the luggage. "Everyone get out! Get out while you can! The OCP!"
