I don't believe for one minute Cosell was racist, but when the controversy over his Alvin Garrett remarks erupted, I don't remember anyone bringing up the earlier comments about Adamle. Cosell's reputation is what bailed him out because everyone knew he wasn't racist.
wow is this the only poll in the history of clutchfans that has been 17-0? amazing everyone is agreeing so far.
Honestly I'm not old enough to remember but I have seen a few documentaries that actually had footage of him calling white players "monkeys". but like I say, I don't know what happened at the time.
exactly...he was a Jew who befriended a Muslim/African American and helped shape his career....he was anythign but a racist
Fried chicken and fries. Broader context of not eating healthy. And frankly, I think the commentator's just going through a train of thought, probably not even concentrating on his words. Shame on the talk shows.
If you dont like chicken and Watermelon there are something wrong with you! <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wqIWCNuKcU4&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wqIWCNuKcU4&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
IMO, if he added watermelon, it would have been racist. But he said fried chicken AND fries. Fries is more a universal race food. I feel comfortable ordering fries no matter what race of people is around. So it was close, but no, not racist.
Though this was meant to be a punch line, food is intimately intertwined with culture. It is the truth.
Culture and genetics are not the same thing... I hope you don't go to comedy clubs and ruin everyone's time with dumb **** like this. ^_^ "Intimately intertwined..." ooofff....
I met Arthur Blank at a convention last year. He is a very nice guy, and doesn't seem to be a person who makes offensive or careless remarks. I didn't think it was a racist statement by any means.
