It is a well-known fact that racism still exists (needless to say.) Let's take a look at a white man versus a black man. Feel free to throw in any race in there because all combinations are applicable. The white man and african american man: both human beings, same species, same body stucture, the organs are the same, the ability to think the same, both can talk, both can breathe, both have an equal chance of becoming something big in life (theoretically)....only difference? color/shade of skin. How stupid is that? How ignorant are people? To think that one is inferior to others because of race. Last time I checked, their money is just as green as the other. Both **** stinkss equally. Is there a white army? A hispanic coast guard? A black marine corp? NO. Our troops line up together, despite race, sex, etc. And there are definitely racists on this board (both by the law of averages and some are just blatant racists.) Why do you feel this way? Completely stupid. People are people. Every single person has a right to live. Just think what we can all accomplish together. Hate crimes? Horrible and ridiculous. race, liberal/conservative, democrat/republican, etc... all the same. So i ask: what is the point? unfortunately, it will probably never end. What kind of logic is hat? What is your reasoning? I can understand jokes and banter, because we all should be able to laugh at ourselves at some point. But when it comes to true hate and loathing, that is taking it way too far.
Black people run faster, and Asians can't jump White basketball players are all hustlers and blue collar players
Race is not entirely artificial... "The fact that, given enough genetic data, individuals can be correctly assigned to their populations of origin is compatible with the observation that most human genetic variation is found within populations, not between them. It is also compatible with our finding that, even when the most distinct populations are considered and hundreds of loci are used, individuals are frequently more similar to members of other populations than to members of their own population."
1. Capitalism 2. History When you have an economic system based on competition . . . you use any advantage you can get. If Capitalism was a race for your life . .. if you can trip the guy next to you . . .Capitalism encourages you to do so History - people simply do not forget or forgive. Others won't let some forget or forgive. To me .. those are the main ones. . . esp Capitalism Rocket River
Funny how some are overtly racist when they may have more in common with other races than their own. I'm guessing at one point of our evolution, skin color bias was necessary to weed out the less fit because of environmental conditions, such as little sun (vitamin D deficient) or too much sun (sun burn). If true, this concept has been obsolete for hundreds of years due to technology. There's a certain level or racism in everyone as well as a level of ant-racism. Ideally, the latter should be more dominate.
You could ask the same thing about sexism, class-ism, homophobia, cacomorphobia, and other such things in modern society?
Racism gets expressed in Capitalism but I don't think Capitalism causes racism. Under capitalism being able to buy and sell to as many people as possible is a benefit so creating artificial barriers to the movement of capital goes against Capitalism. So segregation laws that prevented selling to a particular minority group reduces the potential market that you could profit from. You are right that because of competition people will try to trip each other up but to the extent that you band together as a group and decide to not sell, or buy from a particular group, because of race there is an incentive for someone to break out and sell to the other race because if your competitors aren't then you have a market that they don't. Further if that other race can supply you with something you need for your business cheaper than suppliers of your own race you can undercut your competitors who are racially bound.
The basic cause of racism is that humans by nature are tribal. Part of being in a tribe is differentiating yourself from those who are not. Skin color just happens to be one those things that makes it easy to distinguish you from others. These attitudes get enshrined into culture, become tradition and frame history.
I once watched a porno and I do not agree with this. I mean, I was freaked out. ****ing mamba compared to my Ladyfish.
Did you read this recently? http://www.thedailybeast.com/newswe...-tribe.html?fb_ref=article&fb_source=timeline
That's my explanation for it. It's strange to look at all of these "isms" we have available to us and realizing that each one is nothing more than a convoluted rehash of some tribe mentality.
I agree with you but I think it goes beyond just a random distinction or just one of the "isms". Racism is something bigger than that. I think that humans at a subconscious level are naturally more pschologically and aesthetically pleased with lighter skin complexion. Humans in their basic form are afraid of the dark. You can see better in the day, you can hunt, find food, etc. At night, primitive humans couldn't see very well and what you can't see, you fear....and then hate. I think this tendency is now (modern humans) associated with skin color at a subconscious level. Take for example the caste system in India. Skin complexion plays a large factor in which caste one belongs in. Also take the example of North American Natives instantly assuming the white explorers/conquerers were "gods" because of their light skin.Even the word "darkness" is used as a synonym for evil. This basic instinct of automatically thinking that one side of the spectrum of skin complexion has any relevance in anything needs to be eliminated. Slowly Humans are becoming more educated and technologically advance. Racism is dying down. So the good news is that black, white, brown, yellow, purple, etc won't play an almost insignificant role in differentiating each other. Unfortunately, there is one color that will always matter.... Spoiler GREEN:
There was racism long before capitalism - it's a much more basic instinct. People always look for superiority in various forms. You see it just about everywhere - bullying, gangs, cliques in high school, smart people making fun of not-smart people, fans of sports teams mocking fans of lesser teams, etc. There's just an underlying human nature to try to be part of a group, and then make your group "better" than other groups that are different. Racism is the most basic version of that. People with different skin color are "different" and thus we need to feel like we are better than them. I would suggest that racism is the default position of the human race, and it's only socialization & education that has made it unacceptable.
It's actually more basic than this. It's how our brain/eyes function. Humans (and most animals frankly) are hardwired to see diferences and edges ...not simularities. That is why animals that camouflage are more sucessful. If you walk through a forest, these look kinda uniform. There's green stuff and brown stuff all over and things move slightly as leaves blow in the wind. If a tiger moves in your peripheral vision, you notice it right away. If that tiger doesn't move, you probably won't notice it. Our brains are HARD WIRED to notice differences ...not simularities. It's a survival artifact. Generally, things are that not-normal might be dangerous and therefore our brain is wired to pay extra attention to it. There is a reason why people are generally more scared of things that we are unfamiliar with ...because in the jungle, it could kill you. Fast forward 6000 years. Humans tend to congregate with other humans that are "like minded" because you can let your guard down. It is uncomfortable to constantly be confronted with unknowns because your brain will be on constant alert. ...and evidentally, we are not smart enough to realize in this day and age that we aren't about to get jumped by a tiger ...it's just a guy in a hoody.
