I'm pretty annoyed by Breitbart's crocodile tears over Sherrod. He deliberately edited that video to paint her in the worst possible light even though he new that that wasn't what was in the video. While I will blame Vilsack, the Admin and the NAACP for poorly handling this Breitbart is the one who started to do this and for him to paint himself as an innocent is galling.
That's odd, given that he also asserted that he never saw the full video and felt bad about the whole situation.
He's painting himself as equal not innocent. This is the same thing Limbaugh does with a lot of his most outlandish stuff.
From what I've seen he is trying to absolve himself of responsibility. It is true he isn't directly responsible for Sherrod's firing but he is responsible for launching a smear against her. Whether she was his primary target or not that is what happened.
Says the ******* who spent years saying that anyone who opposed Bush's stupid war wanted Americans to die. ******* post is *******.
Do you think it's ok if someone makes what you believe are false accusations to then go and doctor up a tape of false accusations yourself and release it as if it were news?
I'd hope there would be some consequences for purposely doctoring a tape to project the opposite message of what was said. Defamation? Libel? Slander? Asshattery? There must be some legal term for that crap.
I'm talking about affirmative action, you're talking about the prison system. Are you suggesting we need reverse affirmative action in the prison system? There is a disparity in the number of blacks that are arrested and in our prison system. But that doesn't wholly point to racism. It may be a part, but there are other factors. I think the biggest reason we see higher incarceration rates with blacks is because minority poor tend to be concentrated in ghetto - crowded and neglected urban areas. A poor black man in a slum is going to have a lower quality of life than a poor white many in a rural area. There's a difference in resource allotment and quality of living there. But you can't correct the problem by saying, let's apply affirmative action to the prison system. Instead, the approach would be to help poor blacks get out of the slums. Get out of that kind of living and I think you'll find criminal rates will drop. Urban poor are more likely to commit a crime than rural poor, and it just so happens that poor blacks tend to be concentrated in urban areas.
I just listened to the entire original audio tape. I find it ironic that she says both these things: "the change has to start with us" and "we endured 8 years of the Bushes and we didn't do the stuff these Republicans are doing because we have a black President." "If you watch everything you say, you won't ever get much said." Lucy Van Pelt, via Charles Schulz, Peanuts
so where exactly were the tea partiers during the last administration's reign of economic irresponsibility? why did they choose 1/20/09 as a date to start speaking up?
Because that's when Obama started two wars, created the socialist programs such as medicare and social security, and created TARP to bail out the banking system to prevent the next great depression. Had McCain won, he would have never put us in Afganistan and fought Obama's war, he'd have dissolved all communist programs, and he would have let the free economy rule and all those greedy banks fail. But Obama acted like Hitler - he created the car czar to rule with an iron fist. We all know the next act will be to ban freedom, force everyone into labor camps, and make our children write letters of glory to him.
Yeah, that's almost 2% as bad as Palin's anti-Muslim rhetoric the past few weeks. I guess racism from a former VP candidate is ok when everyone accepts that she's a screwball.
how many tea partiers have lost their jobs because of this? and are you saying there are no racist or inflammatory people in the tea party that call obama a nazi or communist?
I'm not saying there are none; indeed there are some. Most of their gatherings are in public spaces so anyone can show up. That shouldn't tarnish the entire movement though. That's Breitbart's message. Shaq's free throw percentage does not represent the NBA as a whole either. It's very unfortunate that the woman lost her job. I doubt that is what Breitbart was intending, but she should have fought for it. Fair to say that EVERYONE over-reacted?
indeed, had the O' administration bothered to read the post that accompanied the original video, they'd have seen that AB wasn't trying to make a point about Sherrod, but about the NAACP.
