If anyone would have managed to do it, of course it would have been one of our America-hating liberals like FB. Par for the course. I wonder if he, like Michelle Obama, has ever been proud to live here.
This was not so hard to understand. But you are on the wrong track. The video you posted has nothing to do with muslims, the football racism is about racism against black people for whatever reason.
Ribery is a muslim. There are tons of muslims in European football leagues. I don't know of any specific "anti-muslim chants", but there have been plenty of racist monkey noises been made especially in Italy and Spain against black players.
Is that what you call it? This was not a crap on the USA post at all, but a legitimate look at Racism in Europe and how it relates to the U.S. Don't get your oversensitive feathers all ruffled.
Muslims are not a race. But I have seen instances of some Muslims seemingly liking to portray themselves in a victim role. Turkish Muslim representatives just demanded that the German police should introduce special statistics on "anti-muslim crimes". I haven't heard them demand that the police should introduce special statistics on crimes committed by muslims.
i think you're understating the problem in Europe, FB. It does seem different then it is this side of the pond. But it's also prevalent, ingrained (sometimes), accepted by many, and sometimes results in blatantly racist parties getting political power, or, in the absolute worst cases, ethnic cleansing. Throwing bananas at black soccer players isn't just good natured fun. Had a long conversation with my neighbour this summer. He's Portuguese. And the things he said, matter of factly, about Sikhs, Chinese, and Blacks -- just blew me away...
You may be true because I don't follow the English Football leagues but that does not mean that there is not racism against Muslims in Europe and Europeans don't harass muslims(http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...nt-line-as-racism-rises-across-eu-409325.html)
I agree, because it's different doesn't excuse it in any way. There is no excuse for it, and it is scary how little shame is often associated with people's racist views there.
If I recall at times the "Master Race" liked to see themselves in the role of victims of Jews? . Do present day Germans ever view themselves as victims of their Muslim immigrants?
Muslims are not a race. Mathloom and others are usually quick to point out the difference between being Arab and being Muslim. If it is racism, it is against Arabs/South Asians.
No. But while it is important to never forget history, this cannot mean that one has no right to comment on actual misbehavior (like "honor murders", like oppression of women, like intolerance toward people who do not share the same beliefs, etc.) in our own country.
Unfortunately, this does exist anywhere in the world. I had personally never experienced a racist person until a studied in Houston and spoke to an otherwise really nice guy who was from Louisiana. I first thought he could not possibly be serious when he talked about black people. My impression is also that racism tends to be expressed in a somewhat more subtle and seemingly "PC" way in certain circles in the USA whereas you see more overt racism in uneducated circles - hopefully very small but very loud groups - in some countries in Europe. I just think there should be a zero tolerance policy. E.g., football teams should ban racist "fans" (in reality, most of those are not fans, but people who use football as a platform to lure people to their ideology) from visiting the stadium, and any "fan club" with racist fans should stop getting tickets from the club, etc. etc. The teams themselves need to be alert to stop such tendencies.
That's the best defense you could come up with? Maybe the reason why Mathloom and other posters feel the need to point out the difference is because posters like you generalize them as a race, and take the actions of a few and use them to attack the whole.
