    vile
    –adjective, vil·er, vil·est.
    1. wretchedly bad: a vile humor.
    2. highly offensive, unpleasant, or objectionable: vile slander.

    peice of crap.

I think they fit the definition well, maybe not 100% but I wouldn't be friends with those people.

That is just silly. More people kill and have died in the name of religion than ANYTHING else in the history of the entire world!

Well, for starters, it's a joke. Since you apparently can't tell a difference, that's a little different than using racial slurs to describe people. If I actually believed that all Catholics were pedophiles, then it'd be comparable.

sorry RM95, gotta call you out on this one. Master Baiter is right. you said this earlier and then said that you would tell a joke to a certain type of person but wouldn't say it to another b/c it would offend them.

but at least we can agree that it sucks to pee on your pants. :)

Actually I think it is more accepting to poke fun at homosexuality etc. You can do those type of things without malice or hatred.

Personally I would like to see the day when people are less offended. That means we have truly accepted each other.

There is no reason to tell my five year old child that painting his face black is "wrong" other than it is offending some people. In truth there is nothing bad about it. It is only "bad" because some people say it is. I wish we could get beyond that. In a way we have to let go. Kids are clueless about that past, and I do not think they believe the white race is superior etc. That's what we want, isn't it?

I am totally aware of that but this incident is not a worldwide issue, this is a christian dominated country and we don't have jihads as much as we have race related crime in the USA.

The difference is the intent. I think it's ridiculous that we're comparing a joke about Catholic priests to racism, but whatever.

But on the other hand, you have ignorant parents teaching their five year olds that black people are inferior to white people, etc. But those offended by that should just get thicker skin, right?

Did you not see rimbaud's post? There is a reason why blackface will always be perceived as bad.

Would you let your kids put swastikas on them for whatever reason?

What are some things you just wouldn't do because people would be offended? What did it take for that action to be considered offensive to the point where it is in our nature to not do such things. I'm pretty sure people aren't born knowing not to flip people off in USA or point with your index finger in Argentina, it's learned throughout teaching that the action is offensive and some people will never do those things no matter how angry they are (I have never flipped anyone off).

Well, for starters, they were having a private party. Doing a little drinking on a day off from school.

So because these kids had a party and dressed up, they actually believe all black people are like that?

Offending someone is offending someone whether it is with a joke or a racial slur. Can you just answer me this? Why would you think it is ok to offend someone?

Who is teaching their five year old that black people are inferior?

You think it's just a coincidence that both of these parties happened on MLK's birthday?

How is me telling a joke about Catholic priests to someone who is not offended offending someone who can't hear the joke? It's not nearly the same thing as calling black people n****rs to my fellow white friends.

You're right, there are no more racists in the world. There is not one single person in this country who would ever believe that black people are inferior to white people.

Now I know you're being deliberately obtuse.

The swastika is considered a sacred symbol in Dharmic religions (Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism) so absolutely yes I would.

I would rather be more determined to not let blackface always to perceived as bad. What if we could make it perceived a good instead? Wouldn't that be great? Suppression is not an answer. I do not wish to be a slave to preconceived notions. Transformation is the key.

I think we can get a pretty good idea of their perception of black people. I mean the party was dubbed "Living the Dream" did you miss that?

I don't think RM95 thinks that but I am not him so I do not know.

Have you ever heard of the group "Prussian Blue"? There a millions of parents teaching their kids this crap.

    That didn't answer the question.

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

I never said that. MEOWGI made a comment about his five year old and your next comment was about parents teaching their five year olds that blacks are inferior than whites. I have no idea how you went from point A to point B.

Not anymore than you have been.

My point on homosexuality is along the lines that public figures could not 'come out of the closet' w/ out fear of being totally shunned. Today is much different than just 10 years ago.

I can only interpret your second point that it is the minority's responsiblity to remove racism and interpret all racist views as jokes. What about 'black people are stupider (I'm assuming a person of this level would use the word 'stupider') than white people'? Do we have to accept this statement as a joke to overcome racism? Or do some people need to stop saying it and believing it? And you've got to be kidding me if you don't think there aren't any kids out there who have the opinion 'the white race is superior'. There are plenty of parents still raising their kids w/ that mentality.
