Because those ignorant kids will turn into ignorant adults who will unfortunately spawn more ignorant kids.

So what is your solution to educate the ignorant?

I think it's obvious there'd be a much different reaction to this if these parties were also attended by African-Americans. Why do you think that research found that white people were more likely to use the word n***er around other whites, but not black people? Because they know most black people would find it offensive coming from a white person.

Just trying to keep you from being hypocritical. :p

Sadly, there is no quick and easy solution to these types of things and that's why it is a bigger issue than a lot of people are recognizing. They didn't break any laws and I personally wouldn't want to see them prosecuted. The only solution I can be apart of is to educate my people and others that we can't stand by and take a Master Baiter stance (blowing it off, my goodness man your user name makes my whole sentence a pun :D ) on this or it will only grow into more complex situations. Hopefully with the responses from people throughout the nation and hopefully on their campus, it would stop them from further events like this in the future by these individuals.

Most black responses I've read and heard when these first came on the media were "I'm not surprised" "what did you expect, they are white" "just think how many more parties didn't have pictures". The big picture is that these people now know what they are doing/did isn't funny to millions of people and possibly their own friends.

Wow it happens on XM comedy so it's indicative of our culture as a whole!

Who cares what kind of person it is? Why does that even matter? Even if they are a-holes, is that illegal? Why should it matter if someone takes offense to it?

First off, by showing that parties like these can be considered offensive to a substantial number of African-Americans. I'm sure there are a lot better ways of dealing with ignorance than by simply ignoring it.

No there wouldn't. Take the UT party that happened a while back. There weren't only white people there. That didn't stop anyone from saying anything about it.

OK. Stereotyping all priests in Catholicism as child molesters offends a substantial number of Catholics. Anyone who makes such a joke in the future is an a-hole.

The whole point of me bringing up XM Comedy is to try to shoot down the belief that black comedians can make jokes about white people that white comedians cannot make about black people. That is patently untrue if you've ever listened to a lot of comedy. I'm just sick of people spouting that off anytime a race issue comes up.

So, it wouldn't bother you if I said that I was happy all those Yankees were killed on 9/11? You wouldn't see a problem with a Nazi-themed party? What if these kids were wearing robes and carrying burning crosses? Why should it matter if someone takes offense? Of course, I'm not saying what these kids did is as bad as these examples, but hey, what should it matter is someone takes offense to anything? Where do you draw the line? Why would you want to offend someone?

Why would those things bother me? Did I get hurt? Are they attacking me?

How about we all realize that we graduated from the 4th grade when we cared about our "feelings getting hurt."

If they're telling the joke to someone they know will be offended, then yes, they are an *******. I actually told a joke to my Catholic mother in-law and she was offended. It's just common decency to try and not offend someone. And if you decide you still want to, you better be ready to be called a dick. I'm not understanding why that's so hard to comprehend.

Or how about we realize that not all people are the same. Some people have experienced and continue to experience racism far more than they should (which is never).

Would you be offended if I showed up at your grandmother's funeral and pissed on her grave?

I don't care if you call people names because they do things like this. It's all the outrage that bothers me when we're simply talking about people's feelings being hurt.

Make all the Catholic jokes you want around me (I'm Catholic). I don't see what the problem is with people poking fun.

So if you told the same joke to someone other than your mom in law then it is ok?

Why can't you comprehend that some people are different than you and would be offended? You can disagree with why they should be offended or not, but common decency would seem to dictate that you still wouldn't continue to offend them.

Wow. Sorry. I didn't know it was an R. Kelly theme party.

Racism sucks. But so does perpetual victimhood. Suck it up. Especially in situations where you personally aren't affected such as this party.

Instead of 'turning the other cheek' as you said, speaking up and speaking against ignorant acts such as these parties is a good start. It won't change said ignorant people immediately (or maybe even never in their lifetime), but over time I have the blind faith that it will reduce the level of ignorance in the far future. Change doesn't happen overnight, hell, we've come a long way in the way homosexuals are viewed in society just 10-20 years ago.

It's sad to see that many of clutchfans do not see why it is offensive to some people. Many people that I would be cool with if I ever met them in reality.
