Gonna have to kinda agree with leebigez that the Barry signing doesnt make much sense now. Coulda just outright signed Francisco Elson or Chris Andersen for backup C and kept the team intact. Now they have to make multiple moves just to fill that simple need.

Landry's a great hustle player and efficient on offense. His defense lets be real, Landry's certainly no stopper and almost close enough for Villanueva to match.

battier, scola, artest, hayes all bring energy and hustle. I love that but you need more to win on a consistent basis. charlie is just that type of player the rockets need he may not bring the same hustle but he can make plays. And you never know how hes going to react with the type of players he is going to be surrounded by those things can rub off on you. Hes younger than landry so you just dont know

Well my point was simply that CV wasn't a center, as suggested...and the Barry signing made sense at the time. No one could have seen this opportunity coming, not even Morey. They thought all along that Deke would be back, so it was pointless to just go and sign a back up C. Things change. Deke is now interested more, or at least the same, in other teams. Brooks has emerged as a reliable scoring threat and can spot up for the 3. Ron has also shown he can be a capable 3 point shooter. Although neither can claim to have Barry's IQ, experience or passing ability, Barry lack of defense and speed keep him off the court too much for his skills to outweight Ron's and Brooks'. So this makes Barry trade bait...

 

Any updates to this? Is there more then 1 site reporting this?

Landry and Scola are the same types of players (as to where they need or score the ball), we could use a PF that shoots the 3 ball...Villenueva....and a backup Center that plays the high post offense in Mihm.

I like Landry, but we need to commit to either Scola or him...one deserves the most minutes.......and to me it is Scola.

i think too many peopke are focusing on Landry leaving, but Houston getting Mihm is an underrated move. Mihm has been injured and now is stuck behind bynum and gasol, but the guy isn't a joke. He's more than capable as a back up center or power forward and is a solid rebounder and shot blocker. He's only 29, so he's got a good 4 more years in the league as a back up. Just two seasons ago he averaged 10 pts on 50% shooting, 6 rebs, and 1.2 blocks in 26 pts. He'll basically give us the same production Deke would have, but will be more of a scoring threat, compared to Deke....yeah sure Deke is more entertaining and fun, but play time is over, and Houston needs to start building a long-term team here, Deke is just a one year fix.

 

Whichever way you spin it, Landry + Deke (if only one year) > CV + Mihm.

Hmm lets see. We get rid of one of the most "disliked" players in the Rockets named Luther Head. We trade away a productive backup forward that has some potential...

in order to get

a back up center who produced 10pts, 6rbs a game few years back, a outside shooting PF/SF Charlie Villanueva who can be somewhat compared to Rashard Lewis.

We are getting size... but giving up a fan favorite in Carl Landry.

Id take the deal in an instant
